Hi All, I'm thinking of taking a couple of days in Geneva, see a few sights and spend a day at the show, so thought I'd ask here who has been before and how it was.

I used to go to the "Motor Shows" years and years ago, like 80's when they were at the NEC and it was amazing, but I was a lot younger then and more easily impressed, ha.

Thanks all.

I went in 2013, so you might find things have changed slightly...

My Dad and I did it in a day - flew out early morning from Liverpool, spent about 4-5 hours at the show, then got the train into the centre and had a bit of a sightseeing tour and a couple of beers in a craft brewpub opposite the central railway station, then back to the airport and home. Long day but excellent.

I'd say you'll struggle to spend more than a day at the most, unless you want to sit in everything and fap over spec sheets etc. Food there was actually very good, being attached to the airport it's easy to get transport etc.

Thanks for the info.

We have two nights booked, so maybe just spend a few hours at the actual show. I've no idea how big the event is, but looking forward to it regardless.

Cheers

Geneva has always been a favourite for me as well but some big names (Lamborghini this week) are now giving it a miss which is disappointing. I spend four hours to go round the seven halls and that's enough. Being next to the Airport it's so accessible that flying out and back same day makes it an easy (and cheap) trip.

When the exhibition was in the City (1970s/80s) I would visit the show, then have a walk around the City and Lake at lunchtime and still be home in UK in the evening.

Now Goodwood FoS has many of the new cars which have been launched at Geneva.

Been the last couple of years, try to avoid weekends if you can, they are very busy. If you have any connections in the trade try to get "backstage" passes, this gives you free food and drink. Geneva is very expensive for food and drink, though public transport is free. It's a great show hope you enjoy it.

No trade connection, so no backstage for us, nice idea though. 😄

Thanks for the info everyone, we arrive early on the Wednesday and return Saturday.

Probably spend half a day at the show then day and half for sightseeing and so on. 🤗

Cheers. ,👍

Audi let you pay for entrance into their lounge and it does work out much cheaper than buying your own food, and is certainly of a much better quality. Unlimited access means you can have morning coffee/breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack/tea/coffee and unlimited beer/wine, though obviously if that gets abused I suspect you might be asked to leave. It's also air conditioned so makes a nice place to relax in.

The Swiss Federal Council has declared a ban on public gatherings of more than 1000 people. This was announced this morning, 28-February in response to the Covid-19 virus spread in Europe.

As a consequence, the 2020 Geneva show has been cancelled.
