This would be an ace trip but I'm just not sure I'll be able to make it.

I also hate getting to an end destination on a long trip and then having to still drive a long way home... lol

That's where it comes in handy I'm just outside Norwich, not too far to go. But yes, I see your point. Unless you can get a cheap hotel somewhere near Lowestoft

Living near Norwich has to have some perks sometimes 😂

Might see you there Sunday night then, not booked the Travelodge yet - must do that !

If you don't see me the Sunday night you'll see me Monday night waiting to drive to Ness Point. I'd recommend having a playlist. I did a 7 hour one last time of all my favourite rock songs.

Sounds like there's going to be a few of us there then. I'll probably head down to lands end the Sunday night and watch the sun set without being ready to race God. Anyone know of anywhere we can meet before we head off to Ness Point?

That seems as good a place as any to meet before hand.

Griffon1907, Whatsapp isn't social media

I don't do social media . . . . .any of 'em, but I am on Whatsapp, it's an end to end fully encrypted communication channel.
We have a 'family' group, which is SWMBO, myself and our 2 kids
I'm in another 'Siblings' group with my brother and sisters, who are spread across 2 continents.
Even the USA security service can't crack it, thats why terrorist groups use it as their main method of communication.

In a Whatsapp group, ONLY the group members can see what is being said.

I'm up for a Whatsapp group, but I'll not put any personnal info on, except my Christian name, car model and colour.

If you are concerned, download Whatsapp, join the LE2NP group and once we've done the run, remove it from your phone.

Anyway . . . . .Your choice, that's one of the few advantages of living in a democracy

I've also just found this post from 2017 from "No Ideas For A Name"

"I have taken the liberty of starting a new thread for discussion on this year's potential run.
I have considered it for a while but maybe this year is the year to give it a go. As the years go on, I expect this will become less possible legally, due to lower limits on roads, roadworks etc.

I am making the assumption that technically, the shortest night is on the evening of 21 June through the morning of 22 June. So the optimum night is the 21st/22nd. As far as I can tell, there isn't much in it in terms of time for a few days either side of that.
From other threads I pickup that some people want to do this on the 24th which I assume is just because it is a weekend. I think my preferred night is that 'proper' one.. hotels are cheaper mid week and traffic is probably lighter.
Again from other threads I see that a variety of routes have been tried, though I haven't drawn a conclusion as to the 'best'.
A303 will probably be full of Druids on the morning of the 21st, but should have dispersed well before the evening.
A30/M5/M4/M25 is a boring but safe route, but a little longer.

It also depends how many people are up for this - I don't think a large convoy/group would go down too well and would probably be attracting the attention of the authorities - though as I understand it, it can be completed fully legally.
Motorway route is around 450 miles, sunset 21:36, sunrise 4:30 giving a 6h 54m time window (6.9 hours) giving a required average of 65.2mph
I will need a fuel stop as I don't have a 450 mile range, so that eats in to the time."
Might be a close run thing, if not engaging in a little speeding

As it stands currently, I'm planning to do it Sunday 20th into Monday 21st.
Undecided if I'm going to be staying down there the night before.
Last year we drove down in the afternoon after having a very broken sleep schedule waking up about 1pm and just about made it home in one piece around 7am.
If we stay down there it doesn't really help with the midnight tiredness so I'll have to do some thinking!
Seems to be a lot more people interested this year!!

Yes, that's my plan too. I'll be in the vague area the day previously, then bimble on down to LE on the Sunday in the afternoon/evening. Should be good fun.

When we did i (2017 I think), there were 4 youngsters in a Saab.
On the 21st, one of them drove from Leeds to Manchester, to join his mates.

They then drove to Lands End, then, overnight to Ness Point and then back to Manchester.
The one lad, then drove back to Leeds.

About 1000 miles we thought.

Nice lads
