Hi all,
Just got back from Gaydon, from what was my first PH Sunday Service.
Enjoyable morning. I really enjoyed the museum, and the cars in the collection/storage over at the workshops. I'd be curious as to how other PHers felt about the museum, just out of interest. The museum seemed to be particularly enjoyed by those who'd taken their kids along which was really nice to see. I get to go there about once every year or two and find that it does keep growing and they do change the displays.
I felt the museum had made an effort to keep youngsters interested enough, and I was wondering if those that attended agree.
Either way, I felt the museum was a welcome addition to what might essentially otherwise be described as cars in a car park.
What do we think?
(Re the cars in the collection, I found much of what was there to be fascinating, but I did laugh to myself as it might also be described as two floors of absolute old sh*t. I think one of the reasons I'm asking is that I have got old now, and am now finding stuff like Austin Princesses interesting. Is it me? )
I enjoy the museum, and am surprised at how different it is every time I visit - I also go to the Coventry Transport Museum a lot, but that rarely changes. My 6-year-old son enjoyed it too, this was already his second visit of the year!Just got back from Gaydon, from what was my first PH Sunday Service.

Seeing the Austin 7 exhibition did get me wondering about building a little Austin 7 special and looking at the classifieds for a donor.

Another enjoyable event, thanks to Ben and the team for arranging it.
It was my first time at the museum and I enjoyed it. I might even drag the boy down there in half term.
There were some nice cars out; the Emira was a lovely thing in the flesh. Weirdly the first thing to grab my attention as I parked up was a burgundy 306!
Were the Golf’s all there for PH or was it something else? As I left there were loads of Fiat 500’s arriving.
It was great to see an Emira and a GR86 in the flesh - especially both in a bright blue colour. The Emira was bigger than I was expecting though. Especially after seeing the A110 after. It was my first time at the museum and I enjoyed it. I might even drag the boy down there in half term.

It’s big, but looks stunning in the flesh. They look far more exotic than the price would have you believe.I hope they’re a success for them. It feels like they’re between a rock and a hard place; traditionally their cars are too bare bones for most but add sone creature comforts and the purists get upset,

We left home and were on schedule to arrive for 9am but on the M6 / M42 slip road the V8 Vantage devided to lose all electrical power.
Fortunately only a 5 mile recovery to AM Birmingham but a 2 1/2 wait for a courtesy car
Thank goodness for the Timeless Warranty still being in place
Sorry to hear that, glad you finally got recovered ok. I noticed a Vantage stopped on the hard shoulder of the M42 and figured it must have been you.Fortunately only a 5 mile recovery to AM Birmingham but a 2 1/2 wait for a courtesy car

I was on my way to Aylesbury so didn’t attend the Sunday Service at Gaydon unfortunately.
Also noticed a number of modified Japanese cars near Bicester so I guess there must have also been an event at Bicester Heritage.

Definitely just you! Edited by 61GT on Sunday 29th January 23:14
I'm getting on but can't see anything remotely interesting about an Austin Princess.
Anyway thanks to PH for organising a good morning out..
A great day out for me and my Dad. He was able to point out loads of cars he used to own or knew someone that owned.
We got there early and decided to look around the museum first whilst it was cold outside.
There was so much to see that by the time we'd finished it was 12:30 and most of the PH cars had left.
Excellent museum that seems to get overshadowed by the others for some reason. (Try Googling it, even if you get the name right, it comes third of forth on the list.)

My first Sunday service in 4 years; really enjoyed it.
With the exception of one oik in a Focus didn't see a shred of misbehaviour, so hopefully we're invited back again
Talking with the ladies on the till in the cafe it seems nobody had told them about the event or that they'd be any busier than normal!

Got the Jag out on Sunday morning to find a pool of brake fluid from the rear callipers, so jumped in to the daily German and went anyways with Flycatcha. Don't know what I was expecting, as this was my first meet with PH, but we both came away mildly disappointed. A car park, which we both felt where full of mostly average moderns, not all but mostly... Also there was no burger/coffee van either... did we miss that? Thank the lord for the museum and the Jaguar heritage centre.. Car in there where great and Staff at both where very friendly and the Café was responsibly priced..

I don't think you can really complain about the type of cars fellow PH members drive - the event is open to all whether you own a Fiesta or a Ferrari. Reality is, more and more people buy the latest stuff on finance so it will always be overwhelmed with modern stuff.I do however agree regarding the PH visibility. PH really need a stand or gazebo or something otherwise it really is just a random gathering of cars in a car park. More of an event needs to be made of the PH cars on display.
Previous events have had this - is there any reason that it stopped? It would create a central point for conversation, a chance to buy some merch etc.
Staff at the museum were polite and enthusiastic, I thought the food and drinks at the café were reasonable too but I have to say, I expected the museum to be much larger. Agree with another comment on here that unless you're a complete anorak that wants to read up on every detail of each motor that's in there, you can easily have a slow stroll round and still be finished in an hour. I was expecting it to be triple the size of Beaulieu from what I'd heard, couldn't believe it when the main stuff was just on the ground floor level and that was pretty much it.

Wonder if it was because members had gone to set off in obscure, interesting classics, and then discovered rear brake calipers leaking, or some other mechanical malady thereby forcing them in to these 'average moderns'...? There might well have been more interesting things had it been a warm June day. But if you're going to complain about the type of vehicle there, you better have bought something interesting yourself... or did you turn up in a financed Fiesta expecting everyone else to be in a supercar...
The ferrari was for sale, £65k from memory, if anyone wants to take something fun to the next PH meet.

I think that's both unkind and unfair. We were there for 3 hours and took a "slow stroll" around both buildings, stopping to look more closely at just a few cars. Friend I was with hadn't visited in years and immediately started planning a repeat visit with family.I don't watch Love Island because it doesn't interest me, perhaps if looking at old British cars isn't your thing then it's a location best avoided?

As I said wasn't sure what I was expecting, not complaining just making a comment of how I felt... What I did leave with was the feeling that there are plenty of petrol heads out there and felt reassured that ICE will be about for a while yet, I did love the site of the slammed A3 and Golf gingerly making their way up the M40, wanted to find out more but the guys weren't with their motors. 2 Cars of the day for me was the late model 911 with a manual box, and the E39 M5. PS and the Pandas, thought I saw about 4 100hp models, must search the classifieds.I do however agree regarding the PH visibility. Not complaining bro and theirs naught wrong with a Fiesta, just wouldn't drive 2 hours to go and look at one. The 360 was nice, good to see a manual one, that's a good price at the moment..The Ferrari was for sale, £65k from memory, if anyone wants to take something fun to the next PH meet.

The distance / weather will also have an effect on what cars you get there. A lot of more interesting cars will be SORNED for the winter.
I went in my brand new KIA, which seemed to attract some interest!
possibly you're right there.. Will go to the Brooklands one so that you can all come and have a personal go at me if you like ;-) You parked next to another, in matt grey? I liked the look of those.. I did have good noisy at those and the MG3... I went in my brand new KIA, which seemed to attract some interest!

This is exactly what I like about PH events. You can have someone’s farm hack next to a supercar. Regarding food there was a cafe so no need to provide burger vans.

And you cant expect a burger van when the venue has their own catering facilities... which they opened early to accomodate us... and gave us reduced entry fee..
