one, it was a "Route National" Unmarked rozzers had recorded me doing 110mph in a 60mph (allegedly, I never saw any official measurement of speed) Car confiscated for 7 days, on the spot fine of 750 euros, we were in the countryside in the middle of nowhere! Driving licence taken, then the fun really started, 660 euros for taxi to hotel (cash only) then next day 640 euros from hotel to Calais, amendment fee (now foot passengers) then had to sort out logistics of retrieving car, had a friend in Germany who had a trailer so flew from London city airport to Germany, I was expecting to stay at his place only to find he had booked me a local hotel without my knowledge so more euros paid out, then pay for meal with friends, pay for fuel in his car and then to Police station in france for paperwork, then Storage fee, another evening meal then friend drove viper to Calais to ferry terminal where I then took over once in no mans land. So adding up the bills it came to £3.5k! Oh and I made the national newspapers too lol
Good effort that.Edited by fatboy18 on Tuesday 15th August 16:21
The Evil GT boys on YT got stung on a recent road trip although there was plenty of evidence that one of the were driving like knobs in all fairness.

On that basis.. I think £25 for a mooch around Bicester Heritage looks extraordinarily good value! You could even have afforded a couple of bacon sandwiches and a coffee. Edited by fatboy18 on Tuesday 15th August 16:21
Sorry, I couldn't help myself
My lad has just stuck his head around my office door and is curious to find out who had the tidy MK3 Black MX5, he saw a couple of times on the journey and in the car park:
M
- MX5 MK3
- Black
- Cage & diffuser
- "Retina burning" headlights (his words)

You could have taken out a few of them gliders I thought the show entry was money well spent and this from someone who normally avoids paid for, static shows. Sure, there are cheaper meets, but this was well organised and things like the little printed showguide and big screen cost money. Good to walk around the parked cars, but the real value for me was talking to a good number of 'Readers Cars' owners in the hanger, some fascinating stories. Yes, the lighting in the hanger was a bit dim, but I was certainly glad of the shelter when the rain came.
Thank you Pistonheads team.

aha, no not at all but I don't drive a mini My car will be on display at the NEC Classic car show over the 3 days, and as for more local shows in the South east, yes that's exactly what I did, a local show with Free entry. a mix of American and Supercars.
You run a Viper, but are worried about £25.I thought it was great event, and these days of negativity to ICE, was heartwarming to so many genuine petrolheads.
And £20 is next to fk all these days, its not even 3 pints ffs.

You would have enjoyed the Cranleigh Car Show last Sunday. Absolutely loads of American muscle.I hope you will be at the Redhill Dream Cruise this coming Saturday evening?

Saloons, hot hatches , not my cup of tea, but there really seemed to be a lack of cars on display, but then walking the car park was brilliant, like the scramble used to be, if you ignored 911, 911, 911 oh something interesting, 911, 911...
Absolutely! 911 with quirky stickers in the rear quarter n/s windows are de rigeur at Scramble nowadays. Yawn!fatboy18 said:

It’s a shame that you’re a grumpy git tight on cash, I was actually hoping to see your Viper, it’s a fabulous thing. You may as well update your thread for us, since you’re not going out too much nowadays!
Oh I'm still going out, but just can't make Redhill, last week I was doing a charity track day giving wounded troops and their helpers joy rides at Brands Hatch. Court_S said:

Wouldn't use the phrase " got stung" as that would imply they were set up or a victim. They drove like knobs in France and got dealt with properly. The Evil GT boys on YT got stung on a recent road trip although there was plenty of evidence that one of the were driving like knobs in all fairness.
I do thousands of miles each year driving around Europe, never once had any issues, in fact the only issue we've ever had was doing a wrong turn into a tram line in Nice once and we got pulled and the police were perfectly helpful.
Next year will be fun once the these idiots start getting their visa's withdrawn to travel to Europe when they get caught and instant driving bans. I know Belgium are really clamping down a lot on the E42 heading to the ring who drive like muppets

Little ray of happiness you are? I do thousands of miles each year driving around Europe, never once had any issues, in fact the only issue we've ever had was doing a wrong turn into a tram line in Nice once and we got pulled and the police were perfectly helpful.

Belgium is a total sthole to drive in. Both in drivers ability and the police. France unfortunately is going the same way.
