Does anyone know if it's been done in an EV before? I'm tempted to give it a go in my Model Y, I've had a quick look at the timings and I don't think it's possible with the charging stop(s) required, although it will be fun to try.
Just go for it!!!Even if you don’t make it, it’s great fun!
Looks like the classic route of A30 & A303 has a few road closures on. The M3 also looks to have closures on. A12 looks set to be closed. Getting to London, it looks best to go M5 and M4. Not sure how to get around the A12 without going up the M11

You watch the sunset at Land's end on the longest day (21st June), then drive through the night to Ness Point in Lowestoft in order to watch it rise again on the 22nd. Sunset is 21:36 and sunrise is 04:30.
Fantastic - that sounds excellent. Cheers and hope it goes well people.heisthegaffer said:

I had a go....
My co-driver and I stripped as much of the excess weight out of the car that I could, the boot carpet and trim, mats and any other piece of trim I could remove came out. I even taped up the panel gaps on the leading edges for more streamlining. I ballooned the tyres and was relieved to find the charger at Lands End was working for a full charge.
Full of electric and ready for the off
The strategy was "gun it!" unfortunately, that meant I had to stop and charge 4 TIMES at charging points that always seemed to be at least 10 minutes off the route.
Far too much of this
I definitely should have been more tortoise and less hare.
Still, we got there. An hour late.
And managed to collect an extra passenger for some of the journey!
It was good fun, and I've worked out a better strategy for next year to try again.

Good effort
How long driving and how long on charge?
About 1.5 hours of charging overall, and at least 40 minutes total going off route to get to the bloody chargers. How long driving and how long on charge?
Total time was 8 hours coast to coast.
I was hoping to get to Bristol for the first charge, but realised about a third of the way there that we wouldn't make if so had to divert to Exeter for a top up before proceeding with a slightly lighter right foot for the rest of the journey.

Sunset to Sunrise is pretty much 7 hours on the dot, and it's a 8hr trip doing the speed limit according to Google Maps, so you were doing well until the multiple charges.
As to your new feathery bumper adornment, the wildlife here in Norfolk is the dumbest set of animals I've ever had the misfortune to drive near, bloody lunatics everywhere jumping out in-front of cars without a care etc!

Yes, there was certainly a lot of birds on the roads in Norfolk, I managed to dodge them all, well - mostly! That bloody thing went through the 2 cm wide vent on the front bumper, put a big crack in it and got lodged there.
Weirdly I am more disappointed that we didn't make it in time than I am about the damaged bumper.
