Good half day out (only got there at lunch). Well o(rganised and good fun to watch people give it a go. Nice to see a PH stand and some jumpers about the place too (I suggest this last time!).

I took a lot of photos, 800 or so. I've ditched a lot, as I'm crap, the rest are in the link below. Shot in RAW, happy to pass them along if you want. Man maths dictates the issue is with my old gear, not me!

MDifficult, there are 3 blurry ones of you going past me included. I've left the following photos off, but happy to add them if you are, or can email them. They're nothing special, just sore wounds and all that hehe (and a video of the removal eek)

Big thanks to the 4 or so lads who helped bump start my 2002 too! Made it home without stalling it.

Some lovely pictures there bud. Just wondered how we can down load the full res version. Been ages for me since posting pics on forums!
Thanks! Just drop me an email with the plate & car and I'll email over the full-res ones later tonight.

(I've looked on Flickr and can't see how to allow people to download full-res photos)

I was there with the MX-5 lot - a grand day out indeed!

I've never done anything like that before and it was loads of fun. I definitely have an increased appreciation of those properly competing. How someone can cross the finish line in 38 secs is deeply impressive.

Fantastic day despite the best efforts of the weather early on! First time doing anything like this and the adrenalin was certainly pumping before my first run biglaugh !

Such a friendly event, loved the variety of the Pistonheads cars, despite mine being a predictable BMW lol.

Great value TBH, and would love to do it again. So much so that I'm looking for track cars already biglaugh

We’re you the red one or the black one? Both were amazing but I absolutely loved the red one.

Great day out. First time taking my car on a 'track' and thoroughly enjoyed it, albeit a bit nervous first thing whilst it was damp! Agree it was a much better format that a usual 'cars and coffee'. Who new hill climbing could be such fun!

I’m gutted I missed it reading the replies! If it’s organised again I’ll definitely get over.

I’m getting a replacement calliper sent out, so the issue is being resolved, just a shame to have wasted the money and missed the day though!

Keep the pics coming clap

You should have brought the spare car. There was a guy in a battered Rav 4 having a whale of a time.

He looked like he was a great time and really going for it off the line.

Smoking the tyres off the line in that thing was hilarious!

The Rav 4 was dumping the clutch out of the hairpins too and spinning up the tyres hehe

Was a good day. Never been there before, will return. Nice to meet you MDiff, though if you wanted to go off roading you should have asked to borrow my Nomad hehe
Too soon? hehe Didn't get to meet you Will, hopefully at the next day! What a fantastic day out, thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll get my photos edited and posted here over the next couple of days.
Hi Ben, sorry I did mean to pop and say hello. I didn't see you obviously lurking by your Clio at any point so wasn't sure who to introduce myself to hehe

I meant to go and ask the guy running the Rav whether it had its original engine! Sounded pretty good to my ears biggrin

I got chatting to one of the marshalls who was saying that the current record is below 35 secs and that they were doing north of 100mph by the footbridge across the track. He was also talking about a rally stage held there last year, racing up at night in the dark.

Just been looking at the programme from yesterday and found it's got a listing of the fastest runs each year since the course opened:
Current record is 34.65 secs
In a rally car in darkness, it's 46.76 secs.

Yeh I know. I was having a right sulk though as I’d planned to have the Evo ready. Haha

If it was a bit closer I’d have done it. Did it stay dry for the session?

Yes it did stay dry but it was chuffing cold! Sun started to come out just as the day ended. The Rav4 should have been given an award for the longest burnoutsbiglaugh

First time on a track for me and it was huge fun even though I was really timid and showed the car a lot of respect (18 years old and 100k miles) There were 2 things holding me back, the first was I couldn't help hear the words "R53 brakes are awful" (according to the internet) as I was going towards the hairpin with a wall at the end of it, and secondly it was the only way I had to get home so don't break it. Would do it again though in a heartbeat (maybe after upgrading the brakes)

Was yours the BRG Cooper S?

The brakes on mine were pretty and good be fair; they felt ok at the time. It wasn’t until I had an R56 courtesy car that I realised how bad they were. Fun little cars though. Mine just felt big and heavy on the way up there; the last corner scared the hell out of me to be fair.
