It's Back !!

The all new and improved Northants Run !!

Actually it's not new or improved but what the hell its another run !! YAY

Current fave date was 9th April but is now Sunday 16th april

Usual Start at 15a Northbound about 09.30 - 10.00am

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ / PRINT THIS

Hello All !

I’ve been having some trouble finding somewhere for us to finish the run !
With it being Easter Sunday, everywhere’s pretty full.

An option has arrived though…and it’s a good one !

The “Freak’s of Nature” (bear with me, it’s not as bad as it sounds) have a big charity BBQ for the local children’s homes and have closed the entire car-park opposite the Picturedrome.

They have 100 or so bikes and a load of cars that go off on a tour of the children’s homes giving out Easter eggs and the like. While they are out, they have invited us to park up along the back edge of the car park to create a bit of a show.

This works out nicely for us as we get a marshalled car park opposite the Pub on one of the busiest lunch days of the year !! The Pub will have a BBQ running in the garden behind and will have their normal lunch menu on all day. There’s also a fairly spangly raffle with 2 tickets for any event at Silverstone and a signed Pink Floyd album among the prizes !!

As far as I can tell, there are around 40 spaces along that side and we MUST NOT spill over as they need the space for when the run returns. I’m pretty confident it’ll be enough. Especially as a few folks are going to park at home and walk over.

They’re hoping to raise about £2,000, I said we’d do our bit and chuck in a fiver per car. Hopefully we’ll bring a few in to look at the cars too. They also suggested that if anyone is willing, maybe we could drive generous donators around the park. (slowly!!) Can anyone willing to do this drop me a mail please !

The run will “finish” back at 15a. I thought I’d give an easy bail out option to anyone wanting to do their own thing. Once back there, we’ll get into a posy order and convoy to the Picturedrome!

It should be quite easy for us to stay together for the first part.

Directions from 15a to the Pub are as follows;
Take the M1 Southbound to J15 and turn Left.
Stay on this dual carriageway past Brackmills Industry.
Take the exit signposted for the hospital and then go straight over the roundabout, signposted Abington and County Cricket.
Carry on along and then up the hill to the traffic lights. Go Straight over.
This will bring you to some more traffic lights at Abington Park. Keep heading for County Cricket.
Go straight over the first set of lights and then left at the second.
This will take you past the Cricket Ground on your left.
At the mini roundabout turn Right. Then at the lights turn left.
This will take you along East Park Parade with the Racecourse Park on your Right.
Turn right into the car park at the end of this road.

Let me know what you think
Cheers

O.

I was talking about this to a member of the Old UK bikes lot,
they do these runs weekly, and he says never encounter
the Boughton/Brixworth syndrome.

(Arms/fingers held upright) in gesture of solidarity to passing pageant of motorcars

must just someone doing something unseemly,

like blatantly operating wipers in their vicintiy

But I still feel guilty when I drive to work (and I am innocent).

Anyway, the silly old folks have enough distractions with a lottery winner or something building a 10 bed extension on his house and the construction traffic has been obstructing the main road for the last few months.
That alone must be driving them mad (it even annoys me).
