How many people got a talking to from the noise police then ?

I had matey track owner tell me at 15:30 that I was "F**cking it up for everyone else !" and that the day was meant for "normal road cars".

So, he wont be getting his Vulcan bomber out then !

I know Rob & Hazy in the 360 CS and 360 got told to rest for an hour down to the noise.

On the run I did with Rob in the CS we supposidly hit 103db on a drive by reading. Sounds a bit iffy to me.

Hang on a moment. If venom is going to be forthcoming, please aim it at the scum who been making complaints and the laws that allow them to complain.

The owner of the venue is merely trying to protect the place from having even more draconian noise restrictions put in place, which could ultimately result in VMAX style car runs being banned there altogether. It's not his fault that there are restrictions on car noise but not on aircraft noise during the day.

I for one found it thoroughly amusing that we had the sound of one of the jets being revved up towards the end of the day... no probs with mere car noise with that thing running

So, if we all bring jet cars next time we're sorted

And at least they had the good grace to give us a good looking noise tester... even if she did try to test me twice when I joined the back of the queue after my first run

Matt (who has posted on here) and his father who own Bruntingthorpe are 100% car-nuts and own loads of fast cars including the XJ220. They are really decent people and love seeing fast cars at Brunters. Don't forget that VMax is one of very few sets of people allowed to run events there, because they have always been run with such quality by Craig, Greg et al.........

The noise restrictions are imposed by the local council as a result of stupid local residents who knew there was an airfield there when they moved in but whose votes seem to count more than non-local car-enthusiasts (deemed as anti-social monsters by the majority of the press).

The noise limits are regrettable, but clear, and should be adhered to or there will be no more VMaxs. Just looks at the situation at Thruxton which can no longer hold an F3 race once a year because the residents complained about the noise and so the council banned it.

He was somewhat assertive to me, I can tell you. He made no attempt to explain anything regarding reasons etc other than use the words "You're f**king it up for everyone else". If anything, I'd say venow was directed at me on the day.

James told me that I had been pointed as one of the 'Loud' cars as well..(SL55), but It came right at the end of the day, so all the fun had been had (?)already.

Still, It was worth it as most peolpe really seemed to enjoy my glorious V8 soundtrack..it is like the God of Thunder gargling with rusty nails!!

Indeed it was at the end of the day so it did not really matter very much. But, you have to ask yourself about the next VMAX. What's going to happen then ?

ok, I was going to let this lie but..

We knew there were possibilities of noise issues in the week before we went. I made it very clear, posting in every vmax thread. as I have copied and pasted here:

"Wednesday 15th March
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been warned by brunters (who have been warned about noise previously) that any particularly loud cars will be asked not to run, I have previously mentioned this to everyone who has anything particularly loud but can all runners pls be aware of this & let me know if this is an issue for your car. I dont want to disappoint people but we have to be courteous to our runway owners."

_________________________________________________________________

I also spoke to several people by text & said that I completely understood if they wanted to pull out because of any noise issues, nobody did..

to continue

Dave and the guys were very clear beforehand about the reasons why (listed by guyr above) and i thought that whilst it came of a bit of a surprise that we were tested before going out, it was done in a courteous manner & we were then allowed to run.

There were a few exceptions whereby I was told to ask people not to run at the time & I warned them to take it easy, this was not adhered to & didnt help matters for anyone.

I think that's about it really, but it's a bit of a shame. The brunters guys are a really decent lot & they shouldnt be shot down for enforcing something over which they have little or no control.

To be fair Adrian, despite it sounding glorious your car does have straight through pipes, something which you actually told the owner.

I can understand the guy getting his knickers in a twist if people weren't taking notice after a warning.
I imagine he has many sleepless nights over the local planning authority withdrawing the certificate of lawfulness for motorsport use!
