Cannonball Europe kicks off

Fun run to start in July

Dechamps' WRC Focus
Dechamps' WRC Focus
The Cannonball Run Europe kicks off in Surrey on Sunday 9 July this year -- the last day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

It will be the first one organised by globally experienced organiser Jan Dechamps, who has bought the UK start franchise, and co-organiser Patrick Nelson. Both car nuts, both have run successful businesses, and said that they wanted  to run the Run for fun. Dechamps will be piloting a car built especially for her -- the Cannonball Ford Focus WRC.

The destination remains secret but the organisers promise "a blast of the hottest cars travelling through spectacular scenery, staying in amazing places, and enjoying plenty of partying and high jinks". It doesn't matter what you drive -- it's how you drive it is the slogan...

For 2007, the company said it will stage the first Cannonball Classic. This will be an event that combines great European driving roads with visits to circuits and venues that represent the best in motorsport heritage, plus a complementary cultural programme.

Firstly, not only can you not get your URLs straight, you can't get your facts straight either because Cannonball 8000 FOLLOWED AFTER cannonball run europe

Secondly, the only thing you guys CAN get straight are the lines you drive in, and slow at that due to fear of getting arrested... ;-)

Im planning on the real cannonball run in either in July or September, by the team who are planning the world cannonball in the states east to west coast - which is gonna be FAB FAB FAB

Ford Focus Malokus, kiss my Audi's ass goodbye....

I'm pleased to see that Ms Road Angel has set you straight with regards to Cannonball 8000, now it's time for me to set her straight(and anyone who may be confused following this posting) regarding Cannonball Run Europe.

The Cannonball Run mentioned in this post IS the real Cannonball Run. The Run scheduled to leave from Surrey in July is the one and only Cannonball Run with a UK start. However, we're pleased to say that the Cannonball family is growing and the event referred to, planned for September, has been established for our European friends and starts & finishes in mainland Europe.

If you need any further clarification, please PM me.

Yes, GTRene & HughesieII this is the car that was at the great Viginia Waters meet (every time I see WV meet it makes me think of those little German cars!!). Yes it can make 400bhp with the boost turned right up and the NOz on but we'll calm it down to a mear 325/350 for the run which is enough for a car with just front wheel drive The torque steer makes it a barrel of laughs to drive!

The car was Power Engineering's Zetec turbo development car & aswell as the M-sport bodykit includes lots of 'trick' goodies which set it very much apart from your typical M*x P***r type motor! However, a few car snobs still think it shouldnt grace certain car events but we think, a great piece of engineering is a great piece of engineering whether it's an Fezza or a Focus.

car looks ok, but indeed that much HP on only the front wheels must be fun smoking up tires? and if it does have the same steering stuf as the Ford RS had...exiting

I took part in the first Cannonball Run Europe a few years ago and whilst freelancing spent a considerable amount of time helping Tim and Ian organise the event. I can say hands down that this was one of my best life experiences to date and hope to be able to take part again in the future.

For the record Cannonball 8000 followed about 6 months after Cannonball Run Europe with adverts using copy pretty much identical (except a word or two) to that which I wrote with Ian Whitehorn for the advertising campaign that year.

For those planning to take part this year, have an amazing time and yes I am jealous!!!

Have fun...

Ouch!! You may call it whining, I call it requesting advice for being caught driving at high speeds in a foreign country, and which for your information I would never regret as I had the best time in my life on the cannonball run. Im not one to be pressurised into a sheep like mentality and just stick blindly to rules for no good reason. There were many court cases, especially in Sweden (including my co-driver) where non-attendance was the order of the day, and those people were informed that non-attendance would mean they would be banned from Sweden for 6 months. However, there was no advice like this on the letter I was sent from the Belgian authorities hence me asking around.

Also, it doesn't stop me from doing it all over again .... :-)

who frigging cares who came first - they ripped our design off

That's theft - fullstop fcking period
It's my company's IPR - nowt to do with Cannonball8000 nor Cannonball Europe

I spoke to Ian - and he was OK and said they would change the design - of course it's not happened and it's pointless taking legal action - costs too much and not enought return on it
