Didn't think the location was that bad to get to. Only 2 hours from Leicester Forest East and two and a half straight back home to Yorkshire.

One of the problems was that as it was so cold, and the "warm" permanent bar was so close, a lot of people chose that over the beer tent, so if the race could blag Whit Weekend next year that might help.

I have already decided that I'll take the uber-cruiser next year and put the 14Kw patio heater in the back!

From what i can gather though, it is a massive help to Ted to have an event organising partner, and if having not quite the perfect location/date or whatever means that the event still goes ahead then fair enough, we can't have everything

and I liked the night time racing. I'll take a ground sheet and a blanket next time (and a flask!)

I didn't manage to get across to Pistonfest as I was too busy working and sleeping! The band sounded good from a distance though although I slept through most of it in my "off shift" time.

I think we ran Whit weekend last year and the weather was no better than it was this year! Snetterton is always colder than anywhere else as the wind whips across there! There was a point on Friday afternoon when I didn't think that we were going to get the tent to stay up as it was sooooo windy!

I was there in June two years ago (the weekend after Le Mans) and it was OK but certainly not Le Mans weather!

I'd guess it is significantly better in organisation and financial terms to Ted to piggyback an existing event rather than organising and funding a separate event with all the requirements for insurance, security, bar licencing, toilets, noise levels etc. etc. The problem with that is that you have to accept the limitations of running at someone else's event like not doing donuts on the grass and not kicking footballs around.

I've got this image now of Miriam Margolyes in Black Adder and that 'Great booze up' gag, cant find a pic though, never mind

Edmunds having a monumental piss up whilst entertaining the puritanical Lord and Lady white adder

Edmund: So, how are we all going, then?
Aunt: Not well. Let us discuss your inheritance.
Edmund: [sits down] Ah, yes, good. Erm, a little drink, first?
Aunt: [stands] Drink?! [slaps him twice] Wicked child!!! Drink is urine for the last leper in Hell!
Edmund: Oh, no, no -- this is only water. This is a house of simple purity.
[Monk enters, breasts and all, in convulsions. He rushes to the fireplace and vomits, then turns and begins to leave.]
Monk: Great booze-up, Edmund! [farts then leaves]
Aunt: Do you know that man?
Edmund: [looks behind himself as though he didn't really see] No...
Aunt: He called you `Edmund'...
Edmund: Oh, know him... oh, yes, I do.
Aunt: Then can you explain what he meant by 'great booze-up'?
Edmund: [thinks ... ... thinks ... ... thinks ... ... thinks... ... thinks ... thinks ... thinks ... ... thinks ... ... thinks ... ... thinks ... ... thinks]
Yes, I can... My friend...is...a missionary...and...on his last visit abroad...brought back with him...the chief of a famous tribe... His name is Great Bu... He's been suffering from sleeping sickness...and he has obviously just woken...because, as you heard, "Great Bu's up"...
Percy: [almost passing out from holding his breath] Well done, Edmund...
Edmund: ...and I think I'd better just go and visit him... [stands]
Perce, over to you... [leaves]
Percy: Yes... How about some sort of game? Er, how about a couple of frames of Shove-Piggy-Shove? [he gets frightened at Aunt's reaction, which is not seen on camera]

What was that Dave, free chips and gravey?

No! The discusion with "Buster and Ted" was for a fleet of winebegos on site with room service and a cleaner everyday just to make us feel more at home.

I think that you're bing a bit harsh critising the time of year given todays weather - 24 degrees in my neck of the woods (Goodwood) and remembering lying on the beach at easter last year - I think that we were just unlucky last weekend - it wasn't typical May weather IMO

I think that the Long Marston venue nr Stratford where we were for the last 2 was pretty well located(I accept that the facilites were poor for those girls who feel the need to wash when camping - Lois you think the girls showers were bad you don't know haw lucky you were)

In all honesty it doesn't matter where it is as its only once a year and I'll be there irrespective of venue - its the people that make it and Ted does a fantastic job putting it together.

It is indeed the people that make the event. I thought that Long Marston was great in 2004,what little I saw of it (sounded great though) because of the drag racing and the interesting range of cars on show. Having said that, I had a great time at Snetterton, and that was purely down to the company (admittedly the band and booze played their part too).

I appreciate the shower situation may have been dire, but it is often the bad experiences that make the enduring memories. Cworr! That bloody log fire was far too warm for me

24 degrees?! You're right that's bloody freezing! Way too cold to be outdoors, let alone camping!

Tim (In Perth WA) sorry about excessive exclamations
