Anyone convoying from South Mimms again?
There were a few of us started from there last time I went. Are people doing so again?

If so, will it be a 10 o'clock meet again?

Is this a 'go' then, Brian?

10am at South Mimms.

F2Stu was talking about joining a convoy I seem to remember (couldn't decide which way round M25 to go though.

Might have some VX220s meet us there. Several have said they are going to VW, though not all from this direction.

There are more I think.
Last time it was just 4 cars said yes on here, and about 12 cars turned out in the end plus some others we picked up en route.

I'll be popping into South Mimms for some petrol so I'll say hello. I'll be joining a couple of cars at J17 later on - so it'll all depend on what time you leave.

Cheers,

Andy.

I'll be keeping a moderate distance in the tin top, but aim to be at South Mimms for the 10am start. Tvrheart may be there in his Purple beastie, confirmation expected later tonight.

As back markers though, we'll hopefully have on board video of the convoy, complete with sound effects!

See you bright and early!!

I'll be there for 10.

You are gonna love the noise from the Cerb without the CATS - somewhat obscene it has to be said

Lets hope for some sun.

Yes, I hope to be there, convoy should be good as I get to hear Noodles Cerbie again (makes my V8 seem v.tame!) and I can follow everyone else as I have never been to VW before.

Look forward to meeting you all tomorrow morning at 10.

hmm, quick journey wasn't it! Still, I managed to keep up, sort of. Some nearly didn't make it thought - see the numpty in the Micra on the M25? I'm sure he couldn't see over the steering wheel.....

Noodles, your car is outrageous!! Helen took some video on Chris's camera on the way down (allbeit a little shakily, and through a dirty windscreen). When processed, i'll stick it up on the site.

Cheers again everyone!

Tony (& the astra - fuel economy was not an option...)

You weren't with the convoy on the way home!

Let's just say we picked the pace up a bit from what we were doing on the way there!

Twas fun hunting as a pack with another VX

If the Jag S-Type had made 1 more lane-change in front of us without indicating, cutting us up, I was gonna undertake him and brake test him - really arrogant twat!!!

Enjoyed the day anyway. Look forward to the next one.

Unfortunately, the need for food got to us at about 12.30, we went into the pub next to the car park, but:

1. How expensive!
2. How busy!
3. How baby-unfriendly!

"Do you have high chairs?" - "No"
"Do you have any childrens meals or drinks?" - "No"
"Does that mean we can give the little one our own food and drink that we bought with us?" - "No"

Nuff said - 19 minutes down the road to a Brewers Faye - reasonable food, reasonable prices, and child friendly (thus wife friendly!!)

Came past again at about 3pm, still a few cars left, some still leaving, but made our way back up to Beds again after that for some more work on the M. Need to get a classic TVR to the next VW/wherever meet - conspicuous by their absence!!

Hello,

I had a good day and was pleased to meet a few people. Can't wait to see some video footage Tony.

I didn't see the Micra - but that tosser in the Fiesta was funny and it was nice of him to save his best move for the cameras - a triple undertake finished off with locking the wheels up.

Where was that hiding away then? First time down that way, so assumed it was the pub, or a Ginsters (mmm... pie )special from the garage over the road as far as food went. Obviously missed that one!!

Ahh well, i'll know next time!

At the last meet at VW in 2002 there was an overheating Griff. I went into the pub but the only bottle we had would not go under the tap in the sinks in the bog. The bar staff and then the manager refused completely to fill the bottle with water from their kitchen tap. No discussion - no water.

Why would any service provider want to do that to a prospective punter?
