Been thinking that we could organise a big summer meet. I enjoyed the VW meet today and the turnout was excellent so there are enough people that are willing to travel to this area.

The only place I could think of thats big enough is Windsor great park, but I am not sure if some of the cars will be able to get into the parking area or if people would even be willing to drive their pride and joy into it!

Anyway if we could organise it then everybody could bring a picnic we could get a game of footy going and maybe kite flying/RC cars going.

Anybody interested or got any ideas?

Cheers

Sounds great. Maybe a local could do a quick recce to check out the ground clearance and suitability for LOW cars?

Great idea! It's the place used by the Berks TVRCC for our annual picnic. Do be aware, however, that permission for such a gathering is required from the Crown Estate Parks Office...or we may not be allowed to congregate.
True enough, some of the cars we saw today may not make it over/through the potholes and the grass ridges...but we could go on a 'reccy' mission to be certain

Cheers Guys,

I pop down there during the week and scope it out.

The reason that I am worried about it is because the car park is a long gravel track and then you park up on the grass. I'm not sure how much clearence you would need.

I'll try and find an alternative if it's a no go!

Cheers

This sounds like a great idea if it can be arranged! I'd be up for this.

Yep i'd be up for it but it needs to be organised, had a chat today with a couple of guys from Crown Estate or more to the point they had a chat with me, they wern't to impressed with not being forwarned of today's meet, seems it didn't help that somebody tried to drive through the barrier without paying and also there was a suggestion that one or two used the car park to practice their donut skills!

I've got a massive car park in one of our "sleeping" offices (long story) with space for 160+ cars in Chertsey (just one junction down - off J11, turn left, left and then second right...).

It's got Swans, a stream and lots and lots of car parking space.

I could even get the kitchens setup and make bacon sandwiches for everyone

All gratis, and no hassel (given we own the whole building and it's associated land!)

What people think?

If bacon sarnies are being offered your'll need more than 160 parking spaces (I know, I know, but there was no sarnie smilie)

Sounds good to me Joust.

That sounds fantastic. At least we won't have to bring spanners to get in! .

well i don't mind the travelling(any excuse really) It was great seeing so many enthusiasts out, even dragged my old man and his MGF out to play.Thought the 12 o'clock rev up was a fine tribute. Can't wait until next time

I'll get my act together on this one as there's obviously demand for it. If I can confirm the venue this week then I'll see if I can get some sideshows etc.

comments earlier are right about needing permission, i got a major bollocking when i took the tvr lot there a couple of years back without permission

a well planned summer meet would be a good laugh.

how about a reverse concourse event, to find the most abused and dirtiest car attending?

Sounds good - VW was an excellent day - especcially the noise at midday. Please try to avoid festival of Speed Weekend though.

Melv,

The Crown estate is massive isn't it! I meant the large are as you drive into Windsor next to the Deer Park.

Ted,

Sounds like you already have this covered! Let me know if you need a hand to organise anything.

Cheers
