brighton speed trials
Discussion
The event is now a 1/4 mile drag race set up on Brighton's coast road Madeira Drive.
Back in the beginning it started off at a 1/2 mile drag but after a few too many fatal accidents and the fact cars are getting faster the distance was reduced. Anyway for the past couple of years the quickest cars and bikes are still crossing the line at 160 plus mph figures and running 8-9 second passes . Seriously impressive for what is essentially a 30mph normal road and all pretty relaxed surroundings.
Its free to watch from the top promenade level but for a tenner you can get on the next tier down and also wander about the pits etc which in my view is WELL WORTH IT.
I'm sure if you google about on the web you'll find more info if required.

Especially impressive seeing as there are barriers along the stretch of road making chicanes (sp) all the way along.

Hi
Just for information...this so called speed meet is fixed
I tried to enter as my Nitrous Porsche would have beaten around 95% of the cars from last year...going by published times....
They put up so many ridiculous obstacles.....like RAC/MSA rules which would apply to ME but not to other competitors... etc...
My personal opinion of them in unprintable....
Anyone with a high performance car thinking of entering.....dont waste your time...
All the best Brett

Are you 100% certain that the MSA rules would apply to you and not other racers?
