were you asked to indicate how fast your car is when attempting to sign on?

I have a feeling the rules change as the cars get faster, that is certainly true of MSA/FIA drag racing rulings.

Hi

Yes...but other RAC/MSA tracks...like SANTAPOD ...do not insist on anything other than a helmet for street cars...

Same rules and regs....but I was told these applied to ALL cars at Brighton...in ALL classes...........

Their attitude stunk to be honest...but....my reason for posting was not to have a go at them...let them have their own little so called "sprint"

The reason I posted was just to warn other PH`ers not to bother going through all the hassle that I did...to save you all some stress........

Go and watch by all means.....but dont bother trying to enter....

All the best Brett

That all depends on the event, a RWYB day, fine, only a helmet is required, but this is not an MSA regulated meeting. Competition at Santa Pod is sanctioned by the MSA and/or the FIA and as such, competitive meetings must fall within their rulings.

The Brighton Speed Trials are competitive, run under a National A Sprint permit, they must obey the rules that have been set out by the governing body, in this case, the MSA.

Hope that helps.

Hi

As I used to be a Top Fuel crew chief for years...I know the regs inside out lol

NO ...street class needs sealed bulkheads and Full fire suppression systems...

Our Top Fuel dragsters did...with HALON suppression systems etc...

There was a Porsche Gt3 that ran last year at Brighton...i WOULD BE TOTALLY AMAZED if that had them either

One rule for them..one for us I think....IMHO...

Hi

SO it had a "Full Fire suppression system" ??? I truly doubt that..........

What that phrase means in english....is.....A FULL TOTALLY AUTOMATED FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM....ACTIVATED BY SENSORS.... AND CAPABLE OF PUTTING OUT ANY FIRE IN ANY AREA ...ON ITS OWN...

It does not mean a Fire extinguisher under the seat...

That was the car I was aiming to beat by the way

Would have been interesting...

Ah well....

All the best Brett

A bit much in a 'Street Car' surely, loads of other cars in pics of Brighton speed trials that definately wouldn't have had that too.
My friends ran their Turboed suzuki Drag bike there two years ago. (crashed badly too) would have been to race specs mind.

Hi Stu

As you say,,, a bit much in a street car...that was my point precisely..

So why was it needed in MY car but not theirs...

Apart from the fact my car would have wiped the floor with most of them...maybe ??

What utter dirge - your car does not meet the entry criteria as laid down by the MSA. If you think that the MSA, the organisers of Brighton or indeed any regular sprinter would attempt to ban a nitrous`ed 928 then I``d suggest you`ve never been to a Sprint (as opposed to a drag!)

Brett, could it not be the fact you are running nitrous? Scrutineers like to see any fuel systems sealed off from the driver. Must admit ive not done any drag racing so may be wrong.

I think your problem is nitrous. I don`t have my blue book to hand at the moment but I doubt whether it`s allowed in this class - perhaps your car should be in Sports Libre?
