If it's flat that would be an advantage too, which might compensate for Brunters' greater length but slight uphill first section.

Is The Marham track surface more forgiving than at Brunters as well? If so, I can't see a downside really.

As per Tony's comments, an excellent venue Craig, had a great time there in the summer.

Much harder than Bruntingthorpe on the brakes & tyres though if the same layout is used, also quite a few stone chips that day but then the track work would be a little more staggered with V MAX...the usual 2 @ a time etc?

Some excellent fast right-handers, perhaps they could trap door some of the tighter chicanes to ease the brake + tyre wear etc.

You might want to mail/ph crikeymikey from Lambo owners club think he arranged the day etc.

No noise limits either! ... Some thing about "its an airbase" ! tank

wow, 2 pages already!

Thanks for the replies. As mentioned, there is quite a fast run on to the runway (depending on the car it could be as much as 100mph) and to answer one of the questions the runway does have a slight incline but I can run in both directions and it is as smooth as a billiard table.

Nice to hear from a couple of you who came to the track day in Sept but I would run this event on a seperate day and would be purely for Vmaxing.

I have staged a Ferrari Vmax event (4 weeks after the trackday) and they really enjoyed it. There was a hefty wind but the Enzo managed to crack 200mph (with a very lucky me in it yikes)

Craig, I have no problem with you coming to recce the sight - a weekend would be better so I could show you the full surface. I will have to have a look at the calander to get an idea of dates - Our track day will probably be 14/15 April (stay tuned for formal confirmation) so I'm guessing some time in the summer.

How much did Brunters charge? and what do you normally pay per person. As you may already know, all my track day proceeds go to charity and significantly help to maintain good public relations. Is this potentially the only runway left without noise restrictions? I heard Elvington has some now, don't know how true that is.

Cheers

Keith

This sounds like a good option for a slightly different type of VMAX - bring back some of the loud cars and put some emphasis on the 'trackday' side of things to encourage folks to have fun on the way back?

Anyway, with the number of days available at Brunters seemingly dwindling perhaps this could be added to the VMAX calendar rather than being instead of Brunters?

FWIW, would be a great fun drive to the venue too by the look of it!! thumbup

It was a great day at the charity track day and a nice layout. You're right about the fast entry to the runway too - even I managed 90 odd onto it. Couldn't get over 140 though before the bend - trouble with having a car shaped like a brick and only 225 ponies

Glad you enjoyed it mate.

A Vmax event here wouldn't have that corner 3/4 of the way down the runway - I would use the full length of it and go the other way (slightly down hill)

Oh, but all that rubber laid down by the tornadoes didn't half help grip on the exit Still probably wouldn't get past 145. Took me most of the newbury bypass to get it the final 5 mph to 147 lol. Still, tis only a 1.6...

May be good for more than Vmax.
With Brunters out, this & Woodbridge are about it. Im interested in testing this run-way as it appears fast. Was that a Datron reading on the Enzo, if so you may have answered my prayers.

I'd be interested in that venue for a vmax event in 2007. I expect the date would need to be late spring or summer to have a reasonable chance of a dry surface But the viper and I would be keen for even a 1 mile event

Hope this runway is ok, its a real shame that some cars are unable to come at the moment due to noise. I think we all miss out when these beasts are not allowed.

Keeping my fingers crossed.
