A new event, to be called Enjoy Ferrari, is being set up by a Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy charity volunteer in Dorset. It will be a static show held on Sunday 3rd June 2007 between 11am and 5pm at the Wyevale Garden Centres Galton Branch on the A352 Wareham Road at Owermoigne in south east Dorset. As the Event Organiser, I have set out to invite members of the Ferrari Owners Club, Bentley Drivers Club and the Pre-’50 American Auto Club (being a member as a non-owner enthusiast to each club) to show their cars in return for a £20 donation to charity. The show will be held in the extensive grounds at the Wyevale Garden Centres branch at Owermoigne near Dorchester. I feel that it will be a different event, on a different day and at different timings, but at the same venue as the previous Ride In A Ferrari events, I have organised for Jennifer Trust.

I intend to have four areas on the show day - one for each of the above clubs for members to Enjoy Ferrari, Enjoy Bentley and Enjoy Classic American Cars and a mixed area for owners of Porsche, Jaguar, Aston Martin and perhaps Mercedes-Benz cars, with owners being contacted individually or through their respective clubs. I intend to have at least a modest 15 cars in each section with the emphasis, as the name of the event would suggest, on Ferrari, with perhaps as many as 20 examples in that section. The venue will be familiar to those who took part in, or who have followed news of the previous event organised by me, Ride In A Ferrari, based at the same location.
I intend opening Enjoy Ferrari to the public and asking £8 per head to see what I hope will be up to 60 cars take part in the event in the extended grounds of the superb garden centre facilities with views from the top of the site overlooking south Dorset, although it is a steep climb! As an alternative to rides in many cars, I hope to be able to let the great British public sit behind the wheel of a number of cars, perhaps for a photograph, and to sample what life on the open road in a car such as these, would be like, whilst talking to the owners.

I am further hoping to have a small number of trade stands selling motoring-related memorabilia. There will be a Tom-Bola draw throughout the day with again, motoring-related prizes, as well as one or two donated items to make further money for the Jennifer Trust charity and for the Renal Unit at Dorset County Hospital who were nominated by a work colleague of mine for a one-third share of the profits made. I hope to make between £2,000 and £3,000 on the day.

Have I got this right.

You're going to charge people £20 to show their cars, and have them pawed over by the great unwashed?!!

Surely you should ask people to do it for nothing, and donate if they want to?

Sounds a bit back to front. You want to charge the car owners who are providing the show £20, but only charge the public £8 to enjoy the show. Not that I'm likely to be asked, but I wouldn't bother.

On a side note SB - how can I go about volunteering my car for the dream rides Kimbolton this year? Not quite a ferrari I know but still a dream for some I'd hope!
