Had a bit of a sad end to pistonfest- the wind destroyed our gazebo!

Thanks though to the guys who stopped it completely blowing away.

We packed up and left shortly after, we were all a bit wet and miserable. Still, we had a good night on friday, getting drunk and chatting to random people.

i think it was the sides on ours that caused its death- the thing turned into a giant sail! In hind sight we should have taken them down when the wind started picking up. Oh well- at least it didnt blow into anyones car!

The thing turned into a parachute! Quite interesting 6 people vs. a very strong wind!!!

At least it did damage anyone or anything, unlike a gazebo I heard about a little while later...

The wind on Friday lunchtime actually broke one of our tent poles.

So we had to resort to plan b - a Tescos special. Fortunately there was a 24-hour superstore only 7 miles away.

Balmoral Green, bless'im, donated his to me when my tent started leaking... which worked quite well for all of five minutes until the gazebo decided it had a better view of the racing from on top of the medic's Portakabin...

That was not cool. I went outside expecting to get a pic of the flying gazebo for much hilarity on the forum later. As soon as I saw what was going on suddenly it became the last thing on my mind. I hope that everything gets fixed up for all those involved.

We decided to break camp after seeing that.

As Beccas tent was leaking, we walked down one of our midlands crew gazebos and put it over her tent, we thought we'd pegged it out OK, but within mimutes it ended up on the adjacent portakabins roof. I went and took my other gazebo down right away. With hindsight, they should all have been taken down as soon as the wind got up.

With hindsight we all should've moved our tents inside the marquee roundabout Saturday bedtime...

Cheers so much for the (temporary) loan of the gazebo, once I got back inside my tent I found another massive wet patch in my bed (shut up peanut gallery paperbag ) I sort of started having thoughts along the lines of "Escape Now" - I really regret not being able to see and say goodbye to everyone properly but I was SO cold and wet and miserable by then frown well, ta anyway, was lovely to see/meet you and to have a ride in the Bentley!
