Got an 1:10 scale R/C car?

Quick on the trigger?

If so Then this is for you......

Scale Performance are organising a "run what ya brung" 1:10th Scale R/C Drag racing competition at Pistonfest 2003.

The format will be dependant on number of entrants but we intend to have timing gear and will put up prizes for the winners and/or best times.

There will be two classes, Nitro and Electric.

Entry fee will be £5 for one car, £7.50 for two cars (1 Nitro and 1 Electric).

We aim to give everyone a decent number of runs down the scale 1/4 mile.

Plus we will also be running some rather special equipment down the strip!

Please post on this thread if interested (including which class/classes you would run) and watch this space for more details on how to register.

Just running 2 classes nitro and electric with no differentiation between off-road ond on-road so a 21xt would run in the nitro class.

Looks like a it could be very competitive (better get yourself some slicks!!). Also want to see it Wheelie 1/3rd of the way down the track!

Better make sure my 1/10th top-fuel dragster is working well else I might not be fastest!!

To date the plan is that there will be three sessions and these will not clash with the real drag racing. Also you will have time to get to the Pistonheads beer tent for the evenings enterainments of course (including the Scaletrix comp).

Sessions as follows

Saturday 08:30 to 09:30 open practice.

Saturday 18:30 to 20:30 Racing

Sunday 09:30 to 10:30 Racing.

Not sure of the format (Points then knock out, fastest time or what) yet, depends on number of entrants. Will make sure that everone gets plenty of runs.

We maybe will run a session on Sunday afternoon/evening according to demand.

Do you think you will get to 3rd gear in 132Feet (1/10 Scale 14 mile????).

Oh, and get your steering set to straight ahead, the scale track is only 1 Metre wide per car (Although we may expand that a little).

I thought we would get the 1/4 mile strip, wont invest £50 in gearbox then.
1 metre wide will be a bad idea, i would need the width of 1/4 mile stip to stay straight, and I would hate to run into you(very probable with my driving)
Can you supply trackday insurance.

Sounds like I had better make the track a bit wider, say 3m per car, and put something a little bit more solid than a white line down the middle so that each car can only have an accident on its own!

Good idea or else it will be carnage. I will aplogise in advance for destroying other peoples cars but it realy wont be my fault. NITRO has a mind of his own i can only control warp drive and when front wheels hit the ground.

Don't have any Nitro cars to lend to people but I would guess that we should be able to find a couple of reasonably quick electric ones that we could lend out . Can't promise anything though.

Alternatively we will be selling (very reasonably, £45 and upwards) some suitable 1/10th scale cars (at the moment we are only planning to bring electric cars but if you want a nitro one that can also be arranged (Cheapest we can do one of these is about £150)) at pistonfest. We could arrange to have one ready to run complete with charged battery or a tank of fuel. e-mail me on toomanyprojects@fsmail.net if you want more details of what's available.

Thanks

An XTR 3E. I believe that is the same as my nitro 21xtr but with a 3 speed auto gearbox. That settles it for me I wont put the gearbox on and will see how much faster the gearbox makes your sons go and see if i want to spend another £50 on the gearbox.
This is getting exiting!!!

No age limit, within reason.

Only problem is that the kids normally show the adults up!

Hi,

Thanks for the post,

Can probably let you run the 1/6th as a demo and in the practise, track should be big enough (and strong enough) to accomodate. Don't think anyone will want to run along side you!!!! Can't let it compete though hence won't charge you the £2.50 extra for the second car also.

Will be interesting to see what times it manages.
