Thought you'd already bought it Tom? Fitting the rollcage isn't too stressful, as long as you've got a mate to help...

Bloody foglight's just packed up - got to try and find the fuse

yessss....wellll I had, but I was, how shall I say... sold a dummy? it wasn't actually FIA spec...and dimwit here didn't notice there was no sticker! still, have sourced another for £125 from the local mini club which will suffice, at least it's FIA, although it does have a few splashes of purple on it

Well after getting the Griff out last night, I reckon I'm a dead cert for winning the 'Still plastered in the most French insect remains' category.

I'll start preparing my speech

damn & blast - something bu66ered up with the minis electrics after work today so it looks like unless I can get it to the mini centre tomorrow (paying £120 for the tow) I'm fecked for PF. Might have to purchase alternative transport

My suspension is squeeky, the PAS is on the blink, and the diff is juddering, but I'm still gonna bring it along anyway!! All it needs a a damn good polishing, mind you, after the 200 mile trip to get there it'll be filthy again!!

I wonder if beer goggles has the same effect on cars as women? A few pints and my Chim will look brand new!!

Bloody BL electrics!!!!!

Gutted What died?

I was just popping on (after a stressful day - actually make that week, have just had only my second proper meal since last wenesday, been working on the mini every waking moment I've not been at work!) to say that once my vin plate arrives, i've got an MOT, so I'll be taking the mini!!!

Monday the fuse box blew on one of the terminals, so I've had to jury rig an inline fuse to fix it, plus a few other bodges She looks a bit rough and ready, but she's legal

I don't actually know what died, except that it starts, then drives, then dies, then starts (after varying intervals) then dies and so on. this means it's undrivable to the garage 25 miles away, I have no garage or time to sort it myself so I'm royally buglered for PF. Hey ho, I'll have to take the westy I just bought...not all bad. I'm gutted I can't take the mini though!

Mini electrical system is simple enough, might be coil also check the connectors to the coil, others thing to try are ignition module (if you running electronic ignition), points if your not, I presume you’ve check the cap and leads, might also be worth sticking in a set of plugs, actually I’d try the plugs first if I were you. You could probably buy the whole lot and still pay less than £120.

Oh well Tom, not exacty slumming it in a westy though, is it? Pity you won't be able to bring the mini, but still great you're turning up in a suitably PH car (much better than the panzer that's my backup transport )

I checked the coil, plugs are new, checked the points, cap & leads, and I'm baffled - as is the AA man & he used to work for BMC!

I'm taking it to the mini garage after PF cos they can't fit me in this week

Mmm, tough one, condenser? You could try putting the old plugs back in, I’ve had real problems Mini ones in the past, also have you done a compression test?

And I'm a little panicky too! I don't start taking my gearbox OUT 'till the morning. I still can't get rid of this bloody chattering noise. I now suspect the flywheel! OOOPPSSSS! Still, I had the 'box out and back in and the car running in less than 4-hours yesterday so I should be OK.
Pease, not another run out in a bloody sh!tty DIESEL euro box thingy. Oh the shame.
