Mrs Chim450 & I really enjoyed the whole weekend. Agree with most of the above, facilities could have been a lot better, food was very disappointing, no Hog Roast, no Veggie stuff (Mrs Chim450 is a Veggie), prices that varied with the time of day.

Totally agree with everyone who has defended the "Gypos", nice bunch, passionate about their cars. A couple of guys came over to the pistonfest area to have a look at the Pistonheaders cars and were in general very complimentary, aah blind prejudice don't you love it.

Oh yes Hi Gemini , my wife is now suing for sleep deprivation over the years, thanks.

Valid comments chaps and and I picked up on the same things that you did throughout the day. All will be noted down and particular attention will be paid to those aspects next year. Some will become easier to address now that we know the venue and its owners.

Now that we have a point of reference we can set about improving the formula.

I think the drag racing was an interesting event to tag on to. I'll also be looking at providing more entertainment/features within the PF area next year, but I still think having all that wild and wonderful machinery around was fascinating and a pleasant change from circuit racing. Those guys deserve and enormous amount of respect for what they do.

As for the 'gyppo' reference - that's an incredibly blinkered and condescending view - not the sort of nonsense I like hearing from a PHer.

Ted,

If you're planning on using the same location and event again, get the access roads sorted! One of the Nobles lost its front splitter because of boulder size gravel! Not suitable for sports cars in my opinion. Also, what if it had rained, that field would have been a mess.

Not keen on the drag racing myself though, the drag cars yes , the racing no!

Good things though, bacon sarnies, sorted! Trade stands, very good, good selection. Beer tent, and TV's very good too. Keep up the good work!

Anthony.

Had a good weekend, nice to meet the more Pistonheaders.

So for the comments, the toilets over in the NSRA weren’t to far to walk (or drive, sorry if I woke anyone up at about 8am) and I liked the way they had a better set in the day and a cruddy set for evening to stop the nicer ones being messed up the following day.

Shame there wasn’t the hog roast but we had Chinese, which was ok and reasonably priced as well.

NSRA guys were great, very friendly bunch also gave us something to do during the day on Saturday, maybe a few more events could be put on by PH to watch next year?

Also the centre arena could have been bigger as we went out Sunday morning to get a few bits and when we got back there wasn’t any space, which we had paid £10 for.

The evening entertainment was good, and really made the weekend.

Copied over from General Gassing:

I called in today with some mates from Leamington as i was down helping them fit a gearbox...

Seemed pretty cool, saw lots of cars i recognised from here (obviously) but i don't know your faces - what was that secret handshake again..?

What did i miss saturday then?

One thing, despite the MG still being in PH livery and PF stickers on it too, i didn't get into the PF car park - not that it overly bothers me (as the car still looks rather sorry for itself with the dent and of course it was no match for the majority of the exotica there - RAC van aside )

May be i didn't qualify cos it wasn't a tiv? :shrugshoulders:

First proper look at a T350c It has taken my wish list place over a Tuscan thats for sure! Yummy!

hope everyone had a good time anyhoo!

But added:

Won't dwell on the comments made about the other chaps on the site, but honestly, they know a lot about the cars that they have built and are running. Don't be put off by appearances, they are every bit enthusiasts as most of us are! Some of your cars were faster down a quarter mile than those i am sure, though - what a bout a head to head next year..?

The track rules are relatively simple and there were a couple of seemingly standard/mildly tuned cars there... COuld be fun!

Finally must make it for whole weekend next time, would have loved to have seen the "gatso's" - was that their name? Footage anyone?

Seems I've rightly got a right good slating for some comments I made quickly last night after several run ins with the Great British Public when Emma and I made it home last night. I shan't bore anyone with details.

I'm sorry for any offence caused by the comments I made last night. They will be retracted.

Cheers to all for a good afternoon,

Greg and Emma (Silver car, subject of singing on the Saturday night)

Totally agree. I got talking to a few owners
who had my total respect for the time and effort (and money!)
they lavish on their cars.

One guy had spent nearly a year working on his Pop and
it was it's first run, so I expected it to trundle down the 1/4 mile,
did it heck, 133mph! Way to go

My 8 year old daughter and wife loved the drag racing
and to be honest, for them, how many TVR's can they bare
to look at?

However, they have both been raving about the whole
event, so in my view, it was a very interesting and
entertaining blend and excellent value for money.

Thanks again Ted & Co.

A change of venue is required IMHO....all very downmarket.I for one would have sooner paid another few quid for some better facilities.Would have been nice to have a few stalls that wern't anything to do with TVR's!

Yep, I've got a nice big gauge in the front spoiler from those "boulders"... but I'm sure it won't be the last scrape it gets!

Just to throw my 2p in ....

1) Great event, really enjoyed it overall

2) Field lousy .... I was okay (just) but I was cringing, and thinking of everyone who had lower spoilers than I

3) Drag racing was brilliant, never seen any before, I'm really hooked now, want to go again !

4) Also disappointed about the size of the centre area ... I paid my £10 on Sunday, but then had to park out of the way, round the back where you had to do an assault course over/round the tents, guy ropes, cars and toilet to get in and out. Boo.

5) Also would have liked to have seen some more non-TVR stands. e.g. something like Europa, for example.

6) Wanted to buy some PH merchandise but to my suprise there wasn't a stand. Never mind, I'll just get my lazy butt into gear and order some via post

But overall, great first event !

p.s. why didn't people put signs in their car saying which car belonged to whom ? Saw virtually no signs, so spent ages wandering round looking at lots of nice cars, but having no idea what belonged to who !

Simon, I thought we'd got a good selection really. Non TVR specific exhibitors included Reverie, Dettaglio, Arjum Autos, Coram, Hitchlock, Ride Drive, Marcos, Gardner Douglas, Outrun, Cannonball, SELOC, Race Speed, Nick Whale, Rolling Rolling Road, Thor Racing, Scale Performance etc.

With all due respect, your humble opinion doesn't seem all that humble.

I thought this would be a good idea, as people's car generally get displayed more on PH than their fissog, so easier to spot the car and match the person, than find the person without the car!

Perhaps what we'll do next year is leave a blank on the back of one of the tickets so people can write their gassing names on there and leave them in the windows of their cars...?

Yes, or maybe a specific form handed out at the gate or sent out with the tickets ? (they might miss something on the back of the ticket .... I know I would )

We need names on people ideally, I hadnt got a clue who you were until Corinne said!!

As for cars, I think people should just turn up in more distinctive (read as: tasteless) cars
