Ted - Thanks
Great weekend, drag racing amazing (BMW Isetta ), have to agree with previous posts about the toilets & food although didn't bother us too much. Met some great folks , pity lack of time stopped us meeting more P/H'ers. Would do it again this weekend given chance. Only real gripe of the w/e was that we were delayed coming out of Glasgow and were unable to catch up with Gemini's C**n*y. After reading earlier posts I can see why . I could have done with that incredible jet car

Yeah, the Isetta was a classic... felt sorry for the guy, tho'. Very embarrasing to crash about 3 feet from the line
Reading between the lines, I suspect any drag racing comments were made simply because it would have been nice for PistonHeads to be large enough and famous enough to exclusively host a whole weekend... Imagine, our own jet car with Flasher at the wheel
I am proud enough of PH to feel that we could be in a position to host a solo event in years to come, and I suppose sharing with any other car club or event - whether it be thundering V8 hot rods or Ferraris at the Hurlingham Club - reminds me that we still have a little way to go... C'mon Ted, hurry up and hire the NEC for PistonFest Live in 2004 with an indoor rally arena, Vikki Butler Henderson, the 'Porsche Boxter Karaoke Club' etc.
Anyway, it was a fantastic day and it was great to go to another drag meet - been to Santa Pod but not to Shakespeare County. Shame the jet car didn't do the final run as I missed the early outings. Really enjoyed it, depsite missing the antics on Sat night.
Cheers

PS Who won the Jeremy Clarkson look alike comp - or was it really a jeremyc lookalike comp won yet again by jeremyc ?

I don't know quite what I looked like on Sunday morning, but it certainly wasn't jeremyc.
Probably explained by every photo of Saturday night showing me having a beverage in hand. Personally I blame tony_996hasgone for the Smirnoff Ice/Archers fest.

Enjoyed the weekend on the whole, there could have been more activities organised but i guess future events will be bigger and better, Loved the Drag racing never seen it Live before so was really amazed! that Jet car was awesome and the last run on the sunday he must have really gone for it as the noise and speed were unbelieveable.
couple of gripes tho..could have been more piston loos, the food from the van in the piston fest enclosure was shocking, had to drain about a tonne of grease off before i could eat the burger, the roads in to the piston fest side weren't too good, my mate and i both with elises managed to bottom out a couple of times and managed to crack our number plates.
But All in all i think was good, and a few things learned by Ted i think for next year.

p.s sorry for any shocking spelling

I was getting a round in at about 1.30am Paul (clubsport) was finding out what everyone wanted. He told me Tony "The Barsteward" 996hasgone wanted a lemonade. When presented with such a drink he was clearly disgusted, accordingly I got him another drink of the alcoholic variety. (I think he was embarrassed that there were so many people watching and didn't want to be seen laying off the booze first .)

PS - The lemonade was a useful sunday morning post wake up mouthwash.
Of course this whole thing could have been a misunderstanding caused by Paul taking the pi$$ saying Tony needed a lemonade. Well worth it though just to see the look on Tony's face.

Finally get a moment to write and say how much I enjoyed Pistonfest.
Fantastic event, with the usual niggles, but if you think about it, if those niggles are all that needs improving, I think the organisers should give themselves a huge pat on the back.
Loved the fact that we were sharing with the hot-rodders...my initial (and daft) impression was "bunch of greasers", couldn't have been more wrong once we started talking to them. As soon as they realised we were interested in "their passion" they were nattering away. Very, very firnedly bunch, most of them there with their entire families, all mucking in (watching little children pour in 10 gallons of pure alcohol had me a little worried).
We spoke with the owner, builder and driver of Northern Spririt, and the Jet car who gave us a few stats which might be of interest to you:
Nothern Spirit: 550 cu. in. engine, giving 2,500hp using alcohol, or 1,500 if run on petrol. Consumes 6 gallons per 1/4 mile run.
Jet Car: F5 fighter engine (others use helicopter engines), developing 5,500lbs thrust, car weighs 1,400lbs. Once started, engine is self sustaining (like diesel), and most of the controls in the cockpit are to shut it off .....uses 22 gallons per run, including afterburner show at the start. The owner pays for all maintenance etc. apart from the fuel provided at shows.
Can't wait for the next one. WELL DONE.

Had a look at your website, was it you and your mate in red and blue elises?? If so I followed you south for a little bit (green impreza). Nice loud exhaust on the red one, but it did allow me to admire your use of the rev limiter to time gear changes.
would have loved to have seen the "gatso's" - was that their name? Footage anyone?

Tony 996 has gone ... How dare you turn our civilised drink into alcoholic carnage with drinking games where the loser drinks the spare drink.

You must be mistaken!.... it couldn't have been me leading you astray on the on the Smirnoff Ice/Archers .... from memory you put the bottles to your lips and drunk voluntarily... don't recall forcing anyone against their wishes
In fact, I think Iguana was urging me on

This coming from the man who when he saw me drinking a bottle of water (in a despirate attempt to sober myself up) pulled the bottle from my grasp, lobbed it accross the marquee and shoved a bottle of Archers in my hand
You are a bad influence Tony
Had a thouroughly brilliant time, apart from sh**ing myself b4 going on stage, but had such a great time. It was great to finally meet all you guys. And i'd just like to say thanx to Mrs Fish, Gail and i think Mrs Carzee for your groupy behaviour it was really encouraging. Cheers .
Nice to finally meet you ted, and i was glad to be involved in organising, it was a blast and very satifying to see it all come together.

Well now you all know what I have had to put up with for the last 20odd years
With Tony getting me to keep buying rounds and the Mrs doing her best to empty the bar I went to bed Pissed & broke not for the first time
Your just lucky he's not the force he used to be
I think Ted was also an innocent victim of the event
Next year we should introduce you all to our "spoofing" game

Had mine in my car. Printed off the Union Flag with PH logo and name on it and suck in the rear window. Also a larger version on the front screen.
Same here, had my flag and PH name in the windscreen. It should be encouraged, either that or we all change are PH names to our registration numbers!
Already have the copyright to that one.
