Craig,

E-mailed you, and then found this thread. I'd like to pop along as a spectator - any issues with doing this?

I *would* cough up the 150 notes and have a blat, but
a) I haven't got 150 notes to fritter away right now (see notes b, c, d.)
b) The BMW needs chipping to remove the 155 limiter
c) The back tyres aren't rated to go that quickly (thanks, Mr Previous Owner, nob)
d) The brakes are just about shagged

But apart from that...

Andy, Craig is busy at work at present but has assured me instructions will be sent out soonish.

If I remember, last time it was 9:30 onwards at the proving ground and we got started at about 10:15?

Don't worry - there will be plenty of metal to oggle while you're waiting

**************** Some Details ******************

Times:
Will probably aim to kick off about 9.30 with a short safety briefing, signing of disclaimers and a drive around. Will be winding up around 4-5ish depending on how we are going.

Directions: It is bruntingthorpe proving ground in Leicestershire (off M1) see map here:

www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&db=hcgaz&addr1=&client=public&addr2=&advanced=&addr3=&pc=&X=460267&quicksearch=bruntingthorpe&Y=290092&scale=100000&cidr_client=none&place=Bruntingthorpe,Leicestershire&coordsys=gb

Safety:
This is a private booking so helmets are optional, you will be asked to sign a disclaimer BEFORE driving. Please be sensible, we dont want any accidents. Whilst we are there to have a LOT of fun and some VERY high speeds please be aware of others, and your own, and your vehicles limits. If the track is wet take your first few runs very cautiously until used to braking distances etc. Ask Tony 996 if you need verification of this

Spectators:
Very welcome, no charge, you may be asked to do a spot of marshalling (nothing too taxing). Please be very cautious when on the track (ie waiting areas) as cars may be coming up very quickly behind you. Non driving cars (ie non paying), please observe a 30mph speed limit and keep to the left.

Checks:
Check your cars over fully the day before, fluid levels, tyre pressures & condition. Make sure the car is clean as this makes it go a lot faster, its true its true!

Paying:
Will know final cost in the next day or so, is looking like it might dip just under £150 per car. Those who have paid full amount will be reimbursed. Anyone who hasnt paid in full/deposit please bring cash on the day.

One more thing, it can get very very cold there so wrap up warm.

Any more questions ladies & gents ?

Just a suggestion. Several people must have those walkie talkie multi channel radios with a 2-7 mile range. Did you
want to keep your marshalls in touch we could probably
organise a few. I have two for a start

thanks, bring them along, might be helpful. Although to be honest we only really have 1 set of Marshalls sending cars out at 1 minute intervals, there isnt anywhere else to put them, might be handy for coordinating stuff though. Thanks.

******* spectators **************

Those spectators not there by 9.30 wait by the burger van in the carpark, you will still have a good view of the cars finishing the runs & coming by you. Every 20 mins or so we will check the carpark & bring any latecomers to a safe place.

This is for everyone's safety so please adhere to.

If anyone who's going on Sunday, has a db level meter, can they bring it along so that I can find out the noise level on my car, both out of curiosity and because I'd like to do a couple of trackdays, but I'm guessing I'll be limited to those with no noise restrictions.

I have a half devent noise meter. The ultima is around 104db at 4,000 rpm between two buildings. A new Ultima Canam recorded 101db in open space at 4,000 rpm. I hope this gives some sort of comparison

Other than restyling the front to look like a Cayenne not a lot! Oh and don't try raising your top speed by slipstreaming Tony996pebbledasher in the Lambo prior to the speedtrap.

Depending on the type of car the limiter only works in 6th gear, go past 155 in 5 and then change to 6 and hey presto !!

You will be pleased to know that the Ultima is back to its old self and running better than ever on full V8. Please feel free to follow me down the runway to the rev limit at 170mph- just mind the 335 rears as they spit more stones than the Lambo- ask the Badger Bandit!
