So you reckon Mid-Essex Ted as the passenger and TVR Ted under the bonnet, then?

How about doing away with the rather effiminate Mid Essex Ted(dy) and getting a Mid Essex Dobermann (or Drum4it's Staffordshire) ?

Podie

I've enlisted another TVR virgin at work today - he's after an S2/3 and I'm bringing him along on Sunday.
Any chance he can have a lift with you to the Forresters?

I told him to bring along ear plugs and a spare pair of pants, just in case....

This is just my opinion, and I don't mean to offend anyone. I was just wondering how many people feel that a TVR meet should be for TVR owners to meet and discuss their cars, their problems and just generally have a day out thats different from most of the others during the month? I think turning it into a school trip where everyone has to stick in model order is maybe taking the day a bit too seriously. Wheres the fun in that? I've only been to one meet and haven't been a TVR owner for very long, so excuse my ignorance, but its this sort of thing that puts me off going on Sunday. I'm sure there must be others who feel put off by this? Or am I completly alone!! Think I may have to find another meet somewhere else in the country, where the agenda is based around a couple of beers and car chit chat. Very much like I experienced when I went to the the meet in Kent.

Steve, think you will find this is just a one off....Pauline clearly is just having some fun to take some pics to promote the Mid-Essex meet. Nothing has changed from last month or previous months matey

I understand what your saying Alan, but my point is that maybe there are people who have never been to a TVR meet because they are put off by events like the treasure hunt when what they would really like to do is spend time chatting about TVRs with other enthusiasts. I'm sure most people enjoy these events and I have no problem with that, but after going to one essex meet and one kent meet i'd have to say that although smaller, the Kent meet seemed to have the right idea, and it was nothing to do with the people, just the format of the event. Which was more relaxed and more aimed at TVR drivers, their cars and creating a social event. Not a photography session for a magazine.

Steve,

I can see your point, but I don't think you need to worry. September was definitely a bit different from a "normal" TVR meet, but it was also something that had been in the pipeline for over year.

This month's idea is just something a litle bit different, but I doubt the "Hitler Youth" will be there to enforce it. I suspect Pauline is thinking along the lines of "adding a touch of spice for the old hands while putting in a simdge of extra effort for the sake of our visitors".

We won't know quite how it will all pan out until we get there, but I'm quite looking forward to a minor amount of chaos and the chance to see a bunch of Morgans, which I see on the road even less often than TVRs.

At the end of the day, it's all a bit of fun , but also we are in the lucky position of having several regular meetings of different styles to choose from. I hope you do come along, 'cause last month I never got a proper chance to inspect your "beasty" in amongst the general lunacy that was going on .

Hi Steve

This is the first negative post of the Mid Essex meet that I have had to deal with, so I hope I get this right!!!...

It was unusual that at your first Mid Essex meet half the cars disappeared after a hour to jaunt around the countryside!!

However, please remember that there are 12 meets to a year and the Treasure Hunt was arranged some time ago to give some Members the option of doing something a little different.

It is in the RO's handbook that various events should be organised to keep members happy!!!!.

I have to say that all those who took part really enjoyed it, as you would have winessed had you been there at 5 o/c when they all returned!

This month, we have the Morgan Club guesting at the meet.
They are very interested in our cars and ASKED to attend. I thought it would be nice for the Morgan owners to see the TVRs in model order, after all...Mid Essex are lucky to have quite a variation now.

I originally intended to ask the drivers to do this at the meet......
However, 25 cars piling in the drive of the Forresters in one go can get a little hectic and the cars are already quite warm (say no more!!!)!!!

That's why I asked if the guys could set up some sort of model oder....nothing sinister or school marmy.
It wasn't an order.....it was a request.

The meet will be an ordinary get together, as usual, with the extra spice of British Morgan.

The Kent friendlies are coming to visit us this month too!

Steve, the TVRcc is for everyone, you are not pinned to any one region. If you feel more at home with the Kent region....that's fine......to come to us is not compulsory.

Should you wish to come on Sunday, you do not have to join the convoy....just arrive and park where you choose.....it's okay....there won't be someone (me!!) with a big stick and a detention book....

If you join us on Sunday....seek me out...we'll have a chat.

P.S. It's okay I only breathe fire on Saturdays....

"In Essex"

Being one of the Kent reguars and Essex irregular i'll just say the last meet i went to in Essex was basically the same as our just a few more cars.
You just turned up on a "special" day.

Are you are on YP's mailing list, then you get advance notice of whats happening

P.S probably being the only V8S that will be there i assume i can park anywhere.

PPS organising the kent mob it to parking

So in summary turn up and enjoy

In Essex. As you say you have only been to one meet. You say you have not been a TVR owner for very long. I would say before posting your views after only one meet, you keep your views off line and attend more meets and events if you want to.You might find TVR is not for you.Now you own a TVR does not mean you have to go on school outings if you dont want to. You dont have to wave at outher TVR owners if you dont want to it is not compulsory, you dont have to join a club, but if you do, give it a chance befor posting.

With car club meets you have to strike a balance.

I was an are rep for a car club and know this can be difficult.

The danger you have is having 60 people sitting around talking over their beers about engine rebuilds and which tyres are best.

This then gives the you the old "MG Owners club" (apologies to any MG owners) image.

Having a convoy was a break from the norm, even though I didn't go on it, it was good fun watching the cars leave.

I noticed that you had left before the treasure hunt started. If you had have hung around you would have noticed that not everyone went on the Treasure hunt and infact there were around 20-30 cars still left in the car park with their owners, and people were still arriving at that time.

I don't think this is meant to be all schooly serious, it is just so we can show a good line up of cars for the Morgan Owners, some of whom may not know the difference between models, and will make it easier for them admiring our cars.

Regards.

Lee.
