PetrolTed said:Most breweries make "bright" bitter which is the usual real ale stuff that has simply been filtered. e..g I always buy Rebellion from Little Marlow in a poly-pin excllent stuff! It's intended for parties, and can be drunk straight from the poly-pin/barrel or whatever. Ask for club bitter or bright bitter. Cheers Rich...
Bitter is a problem because it needs time to settle and we can't set it up long enough in advance.

Nope- keeping the beer cold is not the problem- it's the amount of time it takes to settle so you don't get cloudy beer with floating "bits" in it, sorry.
So how long is 'not enough time'? And what's wrong with a few twiggy bits in it?
Like the sound of this Bright Beer - but I usually drink for taste, if that's OK it could be a good idea?

Don't worry it's not some new fangled thing, Fullers been doing it for years, I first hit upon it when I went on a narrow boat 25 yrs ago and we took a barrel with us, the chap in the shop at Chiswick said "Oh you need our filtered bitter, i.e. London Pride without the sedement. That way it wouldn't get stired up every time we bashed our way through a lock! Brakspears do it, Rebellion do it etc. etc. Rich...

Hmmm. This sounds like what my mate needs to get when we invade his big boat at Southampton for a weekend on the Solent in April. Is it Harvey's down there?

Using a syphon (sp) system you could get the bitter up and running in a handful of hours rather than using stillages ....
I presume you have sorted all the beer out Ted, with Guinness coming in.
If you need anymore, give me a shout. Working for a brewery has it's advantages ...

Any chance of any *samples* Johno? I can bring my own syphon, if it will help - it's just below my nose.
