difficult if no-one can suggest anywhere...it could be a case of searching out a good place on the day. No bad thing....especially if we are on some nice B-roads

hmm.. well the Green Man in Kenilworth is quite good... nice food, decent size carpark, but it's a bit of a chain-pub.. which some don't like

as for the b-roads.. there are some good-uns, but warwickshire is a bastard for the bloody speed-nazis... so have to be VERY careful... suggest leader is armed with Geodesy etc...

IIRC dontlift has all the required electric toys in his motor

Shall we say thats a good pub for the first meet? And set the date as Feb 15th?

Infact, how about leaving it until tomorrow until some more midland PH'ers get to work and logs onto PH and sees this thread.......

Can I be a cheeky bugger and ask if I could hijack your living in the area where the Griff Growl is going to be, to get you to suggest some local hostelry that might be able to be used as a centre for the gathering the night before? We could have a bit of a general PH beer-up to try it out?

I know a few good places around here. i know there is a pub in shilton not far from the M6. Another just down the road in wolvey, and another in peatling parva near bruntingthorpe proving ground. another option is the long shoot just off the A5 in Nuneaton. Im up for a sunday lunch monthly meet up though, sounds like a good laugh!

I'm more interested in Warwick/Leamington Spa area, not necessarily a hotel, but preferably with B&B's in the locality.

ya-what... been taking lessons from Derestirctor ?!?!

....translating....

right.. you want somewhere to stay in/around leamington/warwick... well unfortunately, I've only live here for 8 months.. and have never had any need for a B&B or such like... I can ask around though and see if there are any recommendations....

sorry to be a bit useless.

Well, half right. The Griff Gathering and Growl is taking place at Gaydon Museum over the weekend of July31/Aug 1st. The idea is to meet up at a pub saturday night, the Gathering, so that the people travelling from afar can stay overnight, the more local ones can join them in the pub, natter, natter etc. Then we have a bit of a drive around on sunday morning (for those that want to), meeting up for the Growl sunday lunchtime/afternoon.

Then we all toddle off home.

We just need to select a pub reasonably near to Gaydon (hence Warwick/Leamington), where we can meet up, without swamping the place, whilst allowing people that want to B&B/go for a Curry etc to do that.

Well that's my idea, anyway.

I'm up for this, as long as I don't have to be at work. Is this the date then? are we going to stay over and get w*nkered in a hostelry beforehand (for all those not local/within reasonable taxi ride)?

this date is definately good for me...

I'm a "within reasonable staggering distance" so hostelry is not an issue... but I'll get some details/recommendations about suitable places if people are in need....

Shall we just say Sun lunch and a few pints then? That keeps it simple and if some of us want to make a weekend of it we can.

So Feb 15th Sun lunch mid afternoon ish in a pub to be confirmed near Nuneaton????

How does that sound so far?

PS. minimax, i cant get you on your mobile....keep going to answerphone. If you read this give me a bell on the landline or something....
