RE: PistonHeads Sunday Service: 30/01/11
Discussion
Gladly! This will seem a bit convoluted and slightly out the way, but IMO it's worth it. If you need more help I'm happy to draw up a route and post it later.
Leave the M40 at Junction 10, take a left off the slip road then left at the roundabout, then right at the next roundabout - you want the B4100 to Bicester. Note: you *could* leave at J9 and take the A41 but on a Sunday forget it - you'll drive straight into a massive queue of traffic heading into Bicester Shopping Village.
Follow this along until you get to the Bicester ring road, go left, then follow the ring road around until you get to the A41 to Aylesbury, take the 1st left and head towards Aylesbury along the A41, but only for a very short stretch.
Take the second right turn - you want the B4011 to Blackthorn / Brill / Oakley. Follow this road through Blackthorn, until you reach a cross roads - this is the tricky bit. The B4011 actually goes round to the right; directly in front of you will be a single-track road going down, then up a hill. This leads to Brill - take this road, just follow it all the way along (and enjoy the view as you come into Brill). There is a nice spot to pull up and take in the view on the right, if you have time.
If you stay on the road you came into the village on, you'll end up at a T-junction in the centre of the village, very tight. Go right towards Oakley, and follow the road all the way into Oakley.
At the next T-junction, go right, then take the 1st left onto Manor Road, then 1st left again onto Worminghall Road - you are aiming for Worminghall to the south. Follow the road again, this is a long stretch.
Once into Worminghall, just drive through the village along Clifden Road, take a right into Waterperry Road, and follow the road down to Waterperry, then follow signs to Wheatley - you should pass over the M40, then under the A40, just after passing Oxford Brookes campus on the right. This will take you to a T-junction on Old London Road, you will be facing a fire station. Go right, then at the roundabout go right and join London Road, then immediately left into Church Road (the road forks, with a pub on the corner).
This road is tight and gets buses along it, so take care! But it's worth it... when you get to the cross-roads, go left (this will be the second left) and then straight across up Station Road. Carry on up the hill, it will go to NSL. You want to head right along Cuddesdon Road, the turning is at the top of the hill. Follow this road all the way back down into Horspath, follow it around the tight left as it becomes Oxford Road. Stay on this road until the end you will approach a junction with the Oxford ring road. Just before this, take a left into Gate 7 for the MINI factory, it will be just by a dip in the road.
If you need more detail let me know! I hope you enjoy it if you try it, its a varied drive with some nice open stretches and some twisty bits.
Disclaimer: I accept no responsibility for you getting lost, or any liability for you getting it wrong and coming off the road, check the route first, take a sat-nav, and drive sensibly! I will warn you - there is an odd shallow crest/dip in one of the roads somewhere after Oakley (IIRC, I only ever remember just beforehand!) that, if taken above NSL, can make even my car hit the bump-stops, so if you are in something low or with hard springs, bear that in mind. It's hard to see it before you commit to it.

Signed up to go. Only got a 7 series not I'm afraid I'm not adding any excitement.
I happened to be in the area the day before any so I'm staying at the Bibury Court hotel so I've not got far to come in the morning. Can anyone recommend a route (albeit short) from there to MINI?
Are there any minis coming? (ie as opposed to MINIs).
Iain
