In the absence of a 'Big stuff' forum I'll put my question here! Anyway, pretty simple really-i wonder if anyone could tell me pros/cons of the engines available in an Iveco 7.5 tonne lorry. It seems there is a 4l jobbie or a 6l one, I've driven a 6l one and it seemed pretty good, I wonder if the 4l one is totally underpowered or is it up to the job? I can't find any specs for either-i don't even know if the 4l one is a 6 pot or turbo'd or what..
Anyway, enough rambling-any info gratefully received!

Depends on the age! pre 2001 you had iveco engines 4 cyl turbo or a 6 pot turbo
yes the 4s were a little underpowerd and if they werent looked after they did blow up the 6cyl version very reliable and quite powerful a better bet, after 2001 you got 4 and six cylinder cummins engines built by iveco and badged as Tector
the 4 cyl is quite powerfull, more than the old six!! but need regular oil changes and the breather filters changing othewise they give trouble the old six is the best if you want simple and diy fixable....

The above is pretty much spot on tbh.

If you are going to buy one send me a PM i will be able to tell you about the vehicle if you like.

Thanks people, sorry forgot to mention the age of the ones i'm looking at.. In fact they are all around the 2000ish year so could be old or new type of engines depending.

only matters if you go into london area
would need to be 2006 on (add blue SCR) or have aftermarket exhaust conversion for euro 4 LEZ compliance 2012 for inside the M25

Anyone know if if the red fiat 6 cylinder turbo engine (75e15 2000) can slip directly into a 2002 tector chassis and gearbox without modification? Both are 7.5t tippers
