Of CCC magazine, Emerald ECUs etc. I was chatting to Dave Vizard in America last night and he tells me that DW is fighting cancer at the moment. Seems like it started a year or so ago but I hadn't heard. We certainly haven't always seen eye to eye at times but I'm very sorry to hear this sad news about him. Whatever personal differences we might have had on an internet forum in the past on which I might think he acted a bit like a dick sometimes doesn't alter my respect for his experience and expertise and contribution to engine tuning and knowledge over many years.
Hopefully chemotherapy is winning the battle for him by the sound of things.
It's kind of ironic that someone who has never smoked, doesn't drink like a fish like me and has always been into physical fitness gets clobbered by this horrible disease. I've lost too many friends and family to it over the years.
Here's hoping he kicks its arse and puts it behind him and continues to contribute to engine theory and knowledge for many years to come.

Dave has always been a no bullst zone in the many years I've known him. He has accepted his illness in the same matter of fact way he approaches everything he does.
I'm sure he won't mind me saying that he has non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for which there is no cure, just extended treatments which he is undergoing with customary good humour.
I hope to get over to see him in the next few weeks, he is taking things a little easier at the moment , the treatment is certainly hard going. To my wife he is 'Chief car wally', to me he is a good mate.

Wow, thats a shock!!
My dealings with Dave have been as a long time fan of his articles, and then as a customer. Ive always enjoyed the days in his dyno cell when hes been mapping my car. A witty, decent bloke, whos always saved me more money than ive ever spent with him.
Good luck with the battle Dave (& Rave Talker, his alter ego of course ;-) ), best wishes from Craig and Claire (suppliers of beer & cakes during mapping sessions)

Yes i did here Dave was having a bit of time with it all. Yes he says what he thinks nothing at all wrong with that and sometime his ideas towards tuning can be a little odd but he always gets the results.
And yes his pages was also the main reasons for me getting CCC and PPC to date i remember his articles on the green race escorts with the Pintos witch was very good reading.
Keep smiling Dave and put the kettle on as im waiting for the next pages off PPC.
