I am thinking of fitting a diesel tuning box to my Jaguar XF 3.0 240 diesel. Has anyone fitted one and any problems?

Depends on what model you intend using, there are some good but a lot bad. A good remap from a reputable dealer would be your best bet or if you want to do yourself look at the superchips Bluefin.

I have an XF-S and was considering the same thing until I read quite a few horror stories about both the tuning boxes and so-called professional remaps. The tuning boxes apparently just trick the ECU into ramping-up fuel rail pressure and have been known to destroy injectors and, much more worryingly, actually cut into the piston crown! Even with remaps, there are lots of potential issues, among them increased smoke output which can cause DPF issues. Consequently, I quickly decided it wasn't worth the risk.

If you must have something done, go to a reputable company like Motorsport Developments who have done proper work.

Avoid the companies who's remaps seem to cheap to be true...as usually it's just a generic piece of crap.

If it's a few quid of eBay, quite small and only 2 wires walk away
They only fool the car in thinking it's still cold and the cars ECU adds fuel
If you've got closed loop lambda then the ECU could adjust and reduce any power benefit the box added
These add on boxes age usually just snake oil and only reduce your wallet of a few quid, worst case scenario is an engine problem down the line
