Car is broken. it does not go. Liberal applications of carb cleaner, sufficient for me to bring a fire extinguisher out as a precaution have failed to do a damn thing.

And just to add to the fun, its raining. Why is it always raining when cars break?

ps. actual problem is more than likely to be partially blocked fuel filter. bah.

Bah. replaced fuel filter, cleaned up all the ignition connections that could possibly have been exposed to rain. No joy.

Called rac, the dizzy cap had somehow got wet inside it, despite no way for rain to have got on it!

My friend's old Rover 214 would suffer this fate so often, she used to carry a can of WD40 in the car for rainy days.

May I suggest the application of a Marigold or similar rubber glove? cut the tips off all the fingers and thumb and use tie wraps to seal?

Shouldnt need to - its only happened this once in 15 thousand miles, now that ive learnt that water can get places, even though there is no logical explanation as to how it gets there, I know to check it in future!

Id cleaned up all the other connections in the ignition system, looked at the dizzy cap and thought.. nah, its right in the middle of the engine bay, no way water could drip onto it and its far enough back from the front of the car...

Wrong!
