New TT V8 engines with turbos in the V

Morning,
How do these work ?
Traditionally the turbos hung on the outside of the V by the exhaust ports.
When manufacturers place the turbos in the middle of the V do they reverse the engine so the exhaust port is on the inside and intake on the outside, or is it just complicated routing of pipe work ?
Everything must get very hot with this set up.

Broadly speaking that is the point! Hot V engines minimise the exhaust volume between combustion chamber and turbine (and exhaust aftertreatment, ie Catalyst etc). This gives the lowest possible lag and boost threshold, and critically also the fastest catalyst light off. It also allows the best use of exhaust pulse energy on a V engine as multiple turbo's can take exhaust gas easily from either bank without long cross over pipes etc.Everything must get very hot with this set up.

Underbonnet thermal loads are no worse than for a conventional turbo engine, and often better due to the shorter overall exhaust line length.
