Hi all
I have a mercedes vito 115, the other day on way to work the battery light displayed on dash with message saying battery alternator visit workshop, I drove it for another 30 mins to work and ended up recovery truck home. As I had access to replacement batteries I thought I'd try swapping battery out for new one, no joy. It would start then lights would stay permanently on, no window power, wiper power, indicators not working, however radio did work.
Recovery man said alternator was producing 16 volts which was too high, and jumping terminals got hot, I have changed the voltage regulator on the alternator but no joy, in fact now it's displaying malfunctions such as abs, brake fluid, stability manager, brake wear. All of which were not showing before I swapped regulator and gave the battery a little charge.
I have been told about a body control module (bcm) which may have become damaged due to extra voltage, would this cause these problems? I assume I need a new alternator? Anything else that would blow which would cause this series of faults? Where would I find the bcm?

Any help would very much be appreciated
Thanks
Rich

I wouldnt think 16v would hurt things...but is the alternator actually working correctly now and system voltage normal ?

Hi thanks for the reply. Im not sure actually I just changed the regulator then as the light was on still I assume I still have a alternator problem. If its just the alternator then im not overly worried but its the rest of the little problems I now had im more worried about. Im hoping once new alternator is put on it will make the other bits work?
I should really go measure the voltage now new regulator is on
