right so here goes. having replaced the head gasket on my evo. timing is lined up to marks, ignition timing set to 5 degree btdc, throttle position sensor set to spec all vacuum hoses replaced as per manufacturer diagram. the car idles and drives perfect but when stationary or first moving or I blip the throttle all my electrics die for a split second. I've replaced the battery, air filter, fuel filter set the fuel pressure to 3 bar with uprated pump new spark plugs and leads. any input will be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by 'all my electrics'? Engine cuts out? Gauges flicker? Exterior lamps go out?

radio, electric windows, instrument cluster, heaters everything internally flicks off and back on engine almost stalls but doesn't. once moving it drives fine and doesn't occur. the only electrical part removed were the battery and two small earth straps which run from the firewall to the inlet manifold. I also replaced the positive battery terminal which was cracked.the original terminal had the power cables bolted on with a 13mm bolt where as the replacement used 10mm bolt it was bought from a motor factors. could this be restricting current flow

If it was ok before you did the work, look for a loose or missing engine earth, loose + or - around the engine bay or loose/poorly connected engine loom plug
Are the battery leads ok?

it was OK before the work the only issues were the head gasket obviously and erratic idle which a replacement tps sorted. I'll start tracing earths this evening. would it be possible the new battery isn't up to the job

You say you removed the engine earths, did you replace them?

In that case you need to replace them.

Even if it doesn't work you have ruled out something that you did as causing the problem.

Take a jump lead, attach one end to the negative terminal on the battery and attach the other end to the engine block. If the problem is gone you'll know it's an earth issue. If not, you'll have to explore other options.
