Sealing air intake glue type.
Discussion
Hi there
Some time ago I've bought turbocharged petrol Merc. It goes well however after some lively driving air intake inlet/charge duct pipe elbow ( where is connected to inlet manifold) broke. I have sourced new parts but realised that it's all put together with some black oil resistant sticky. Did try to get info from turbo conversion company but have no answer. What stuff is usually used in such applications?

Thanks for sharing. As you see in picture intake pipe is alloy all the way till MAF sensor housing, then that part is standard (plastic) plus plastic elbow where connected to manifold. Joint between metal and plastic is sealed with some sort black mastic that gone hard. My thought is that some special sealant was used. I'm in a building trade and seen few types but not familiar with automotive types. Any ideas.
Whole turbocharging was done by quite decent specialist.
Cheers for help.
