My turbo has been sent in for reconditioning and was found to have a split wastegate diaphragm.

What issues would that cause?

The wastegate probably wouldn't have opened when it was supposed to, so you might see too much boost.
The diaphragm would normally be connected to intake manifold pressure so the split might cause it to leak boosted air. Depending on the size of the leak it might make it slow to build up boost.

Depends on the setup, but incorrect boost control will be the result.
