Recently we've started to notice a very hot metallic burning smell after getting out of our 2011 Laguna 2.0dCi. Its not every time however.
The most recent time was after a 35 mile run (mostly 50-60mph). The exhaust was very hot to the touch and the smell was at the rear of the car. I suspected a sticking calliper, but the wheels cooled down quite quickly whereas the exhaust stayed hot for ages.

The temperature gauge never went over half way which is normal. However, the offside of the engine bay also radiated a lot of heat which could be felt even with the bonnet closed.

Once we'd made the return trip the car showed none of the above symptoms making me think it is an intermittent faulty sensor of some sort.

The car runs perfectly, with no loss of power and no warnings of any sort. The first we know is when we get out and "smell" the heat.

Any ideas?

My thought too. The distance & speed would suggest this may have been its first opportunity.
Is the car frequently used for short trips?

Nothing to stop you having a diagnostic done to be sure there are no their are no other issues.

Yes. I've done a bit of reading about regen and it seems to fit the bill. Thanks for the replies
