Wouldn't it produce very obvious wear patterns on the roller if one was seized? I think insufficient preload allowing the followers to rattle loose engine off is a more likely explanation.
The one that's dislocated in the pics has some pretty bad wear marks in the surface of the roller.Hi did you ever solve this problem ? I have a
1.4 doing the same thing thing on 2 inlet valves ... I can almost lift out the follower , everything is clamped down tight , I have a spare head with the same cam setup and have swaped over cams rockers followers etc all ok in one head nice and tight but gaps in the good head

Did you also swap over the hydraulic tappets?1.4 doing the same thing thing on 2 inlet valves ... Little tappets ... spell check error ... everything is free , torq set , turning fine but the tappets are loose on 3 valves when fitted to my head , all fine in the other cracked head , only reason I can seem to come up with is heads damaged somehow and the tappets are resting to deep in the head , the head on the pie on the start of this thread has the same problem , I'm just asking if he solved it .
