So - first time post, long time lurker.

I've got a 2007 1.4 Petrol Fiesta Ghia with 48,500 on the clock.
I'm having some issues finding out what could be wrong and some help/advice would be much appreciated!

A bit of background:
Timing belt changed at 46,000.
I've recently had the front driver suspension collapse on me (not when driving thankfully!) and had new springs fitted.
I've also just had a front/back tyre wear swap (at Kwik Fit) - fairly certain the problems got worse after this.

Here are the things I've been noticing:
  • I get on/off vibrations through the steering wheel when at 50+ MPH, from searching this could be down to the drive shaft/CV joints.
  • I've been having issues with what feels like excessive body roll and the car feels unstable when going over bumps. (almost like the backend wants to flick out) - Need to get the car up on a jack to look under but not entirely sure what to check.
  • I'm also noticing issues with steering being heavy and "slow" I guess. Fluid appears to be fine (and have just topped it up)
  • My brakes aren't great - every time I drive the car, the braking force required seems to change. I'm suspecting a bleed might be necessary but I'm also getting what I'd describe as a hissing noise when pumping the brake. (Hoping it's not a problem with my master cylinder)
  • In addition to the above, the car feels like it's "limping" to a stop with a sort of jumpy feel, this isn't all the time though. Brake fluid seems OK.
I'd really appreciate any help on the above and some advice - my MOT is due in January so I'd like to get an idea on what could be wrong with my car.

Thanks in advance!

Many of these symptoms could be caused by a damaged/worn bush which might have been aggravated by the suspension collapse.

Tracking a long way out could certainly be a part of this.

Your front wheels need balancing to start with. Not by Kwik Fit.

I am assuming here that your suspension collapse was the broken coil spring. This could have damaged a brake pipe meaning the brakes have been bled, just not very well. It is not uncommon for the top strut mount to get damaged when a spring breaks so this could be the cause of the heavy steering.I have also seen a few cases where the mount hasn't been fitted correctly! I agree with GreenV8S regarding the suspension bush. The rear bush in the lower suspension arm is a common fail on these cars so I would be looking there first. The jumpy feel on the brake pedal would suggest a badly warped disc but I would be concerned if it wasn't there before the work was done.
If you can't get the garage who did the work to look at it, you need to take the car to a garage you can trust and ask them to have a look. Do it sooner rather than later!

Thanks guys for your replies!
I'm almost ashamed to admit that KAM Servicing did my suspension. (I know the guy that owns my local one) but they've messed up before. (left my ABS sensor cable dangling, damaged internal plastic and cable tied it back on...)

I'm taking it to a garage now.

Thanks!

Just an update:
Had the tracking adjusted and now the handling is back to normal (was 6mm out on the passenger side).

Next step is a brake bleed and shoe replacement!
