Hi there. Wondered if anyone has any advice or experience on this issue. Car hasn't missed a heartbeat since I've had it. But yesterday morning it wouldn't get into reverse at all, it took me 10 minutes of driving at 10mph to finally get it in reverse. But I soon noticed the clutch had literally no bite to it, I'd have to lift the clutch pedal nearly to full with only a half inch left until the bite point came in. It accelerates perfect and is fine getting up hills so don't think it's a work out clutch...maybe a slipped cable?
Any advice will be helpful
Thanks

It's certainly not a "slipped cable" as the clutch is hydraulic.

It may be worth bleeding the clutch to see if helps but it does sound like a worn clutch based on the bite point. A worn clutch doesn't always slip.

It could also be a faulty master or slave cylinder.

It was perfect until yesterday where it seemed to have just go. After I was able to get it into reverse, the clutch pedal didn't come all the way back out, I had to manually pull it out. Would that have anything to do with the problem?

The non returning pedal is normally a sigh of the slave cylinder failing, although some people have had some success by bleeding the system.

It could be the slave (gearbox off needed to replace may as well replace the clutch) , master cyl (easy to do) or bleeding (try that first).

It seems fine to drive, gear changes fine but obviously with such a small bite is more difficult pulling away/hill starts.
Will any more damage be caused from driving it before it's sent to the garage or is it urgent?

Quite possibly. With the bite point that high it's likely the clutch release bearing is not traveling back far enough to disengage from the flywheel, so it could wear out quite quickly. You would definitely need to split the engine from the 'box to replace that, which could be quite a big job, whereas some of the other possible explanations for your problem don't involve that.

I'll take it to the garage later and see what they say. Hopefully it only needs bleeding.

Thanks for all the help.
