What you propose is quite easy to do.
You can even get flush fitting exhaust clamps that would allow you to simply cut the existing and then insert a cat of same dimensions very easily
eg this type of thing.
Just joins 2 pipes together that are butted together. No flanges etc needed

Or you could use flanges, v-bands, whatever you want really.
I'd prefer a bit of flange, do you think that Ebay thing will produce a gas tight connection? You can even get flush fitting exhaust clamps that would allow you to simply cut the existing and then insert a cat of same dimensions very easily

VW use the same thing on many of their cars....so yes they do work. It's a full 360 sleeve for a butt joint and you can also get them in stepped for where it may have been a slip joint before, or a slightly different size mismatch
eg VW's. If you can find one that suits your size....all good.

They don't look much in the pic that's all, but if you say so.
VW say so....and yes I have used them. But I suspect they did more testing than me ! lolGassing Station | Engines & Drivetrain | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
