Considering what is already fked....

The only easy-ish test at present is to pressure test the entire cooling system, but as you've taken some of it apart...you need to e sure it's sealed up first.

Oh okay.

Would this help?.....coolant water leaking drop by drop through oil cooler gasket from thawing ice. When I remove the coolant reservoir cap to check the level, lots of water leaks down through the oil cooler. Would this mean that engine holds the pressure inside the block?

Cheers

Hi Guys,

I've managed to get to the bottom of the problem and removed all the relevant parts off the engine to replace them. Here are some pictures....

I checked the pressure using a mobile mechanic and its all good- no cracked block. However the oil cooler has cracked, leading to coolant leak (shown in red arrows) and also the turbo which has oil leak internally and it forced the oil through wastegate actuator.

I'm about to look for an oil cooler on Ebay.

How tricky is rebuilding a turbo? I can get the rebuild kit online for this Garret G17 OR I can just replace the core cartridge part, the one shown below....

Cheers

Morning All,

I've managed to fix the car. In fact, the turbo is all perfect. Its that oil had leaked through the alternator (generator) feeder pipe due to backpressure from the drain side had splashed on to turbo and pipes and hoses around it. So no more oil leaks.

I bought an oil cooler from Ebay and that's sorted - no more coolant leaking....HAPPY DAYS smile

Once again, thanks for your help and advice guys.

Cheers
