Hi All

Reverse lights not coming on but if I remove the switch from the gearbox, earth it against the engine block and press the button in by hand they work.

As reverse gear is selected you can see an arm or whatever moving in the hole the switch screws in to.

Is there some sort of adjustment? google doesn't really help nor does the Haynes manual.

Thanks

Could be that the Switch Contacts are worn/corroded/pitted and you are pushing it harder/further than the Arm can.

For the sake of £10, a new Switch is worth a Try.

I have replaced a couple of Switches over the Years.
Not sure what happens inside the Gearbox to activate the Switch.

Something must lift to push the Switch.
You could gently try a Screwdriver or something in the Switch hole to see if you are getting any lift when Reverse is selected?

Hmm, that used to be side carrier bearings, I think it's more likely to be wear in whatever acts on the switch.
