Hi,
I need a seal for the rear of the gearbox (where the Prop goes in) as mine is leaking. They're NLA from Mitsubishi and I wondered that if I can get it out, is there anywhere which can make me a bespoke one?.

It is rubber and has a metal ring on the inside (like a tightly coiled spring). Failing that, could I, or is there any way of cross referencing the dimensions so I might be able to get another one to fit?. i'm currently searching for the MB part number as well.

The car is a 1981 Colt Lancer turbo EX2000 , with a standard 5 speed gearbox.

OIL seals are standard items. All made to either metric or imperial measurment specs. From the O/D and I/D you can find find a replacement from any bearing supplier or Ebay.

Yep...very rare for a seal to be a totally custom item.

Just measure, buy...job done. Only thing to note sometimes is some have directional seals for clockwise or anticlockwise parts.

Do you have any parts lists or drawings?

Peugeot shows dimensions of gearbox bearings and seals so maybe other manufacturers do the same. Much cheaper buying stuff from general suppliers that dealers too.

The I/D measurement will be the O/D of the shaft going into the seal, not the I/D of the actual seal. You may also need the thickness.
