.. in the head to carry out (using a 6.3mm drill from a M6 helicoil repair kit) a coil insert repair on a cvh thermostat housing bolt hole without breaking through into something?

Or would it be better to lash it up with a M5 helicoil, some adhesive, and a M4 or M5 bolt/washer combo??

Torque is 8.6nm. YES you read that right.

I found it on thermostat change.

Thank you.

I would think so.

the original manufacturing process would have to allow for some tolerance as not every casting would have been exactly the same.even if you do break into the water jacket some sealant on the thread should stop any leaks.

I'd say if it already uses an M6 bolt, there should be enough

Surely you have the parts in front of you ? Not just look and see ?

There's always enough material to put a helicoil in.

And you can always use sealant if needed.
