Volvo engine and gearbox
Discussion
Looking at using a volvo 5 cylinder engine in a rwd car.
Was wondering will a m90 geabox fit the 2.3 turbo volvo engine (b5234t5)
If anyone had used a 5 cylinder volvo engine or focus st engine in a rwd, could you comment what you used and what I might need to watch out for ?

The M90 came in two versions, one for the whiteblock 6 cylinder engines (in the 960) and one for the red block 4 cylinder engines (940).
You need the version from the 960 to fit the 5 cylinder engine. I think they only came in the 2.5L model and are not very common.
The bellhousing is different and integrated to the casing.
The 5 cylinder engine is the same design as the 6 but with one cylinder missing.

Its a very common thing to do here in sweden, they are everywhere, T5 engine in volvo 740 for example and in several other cars of course. You can get a pretty cheap adapter plate if you cant find the 960 specific gearbox.
Or to other gearboxes aswell, check it out, might need some goole translating here:
