Hi newbie here today but long time lurker.

My wife has a DS3 1.2 pure tech 65 reg with about 19,000 miles on the clock, she said it was not pulling away correctly so i went for a spin and conferred it was not as it should be.

Took it to a local independent and he confirmed the clutch was slipping and would need to be replaced.
Anyone else have any issues with DS3 clutch failure, my wife had loads of cars and we have never had to replace a clutch yet, awaiting estimate from independent.

Any idea of cost?

Thanks in advance

If the car was used before your ownership it could have been ridden ie slipped hence worn out at low mileage.
A new LUK original OEM spec clutch kit is approx £120. A cheaper Valeo kit around £80.
Probably around 4hrs labour.

I did once hear a story from a mechanic at an indie I used to use, don't ask me how true it is, as I have no idea.

Woman comes in to buy a car, ended up with a manual rather than the auto she part x'd.

Next day comes in complaining the engine is revving very high.

Sure enough clutch gone, so they replaced it under warranty.

10 days after taking the car away she comes back with the same symptoms.

Clutch replaced & sent back.

Guess what happened 14 days later?

You guessed it, she was back again with the same symptoms, one of the "front of house guys" took her out on a short drive in another car & sure enough she was resting her foot on the clutch pedal to the point of it starting to slip immediately.

A clutch can last 1,000,000 miles or 1 mile depending on how you treat it.

The 1.2 Puretech engine has a history of premature crank thrust bearing wear which can affect clutch operation. This can easily be checked without dismantling anything by measuring how far the crank pulley can be forced in/out of the engine.

DS3 clutch update,
I got the clutch replaced yesterday, worn down to the rivets, thrust bearing and housing full of dust from said clutch plate. As good as new now.
Thanks for your replys
