I have a 205 gti and the vacuum advance module was disconnected when I bought it, it was cream crackered anyway. I have now replaced it and was trying to find where to connect it up on the throttle body. There are two possible places, one is a small pipe that vents before the throttle butterfly and the other is a lot larger pipe after the butterfly but is blocked off. I have been advised that it connects to the small pipe but I thought that the whole point was to advance the timing when the throttle is partially shut i.e creating a vacuum in the manifold.

I would be grateful for any advice/ideas on the subject

Both of those sound like breather connections. Don't know that car, but in general you should find a throttle edge tapping almost in line with the throttle.
