I have a 1600 K Series in my kit car and want a bit more power from it, it is currently standard except for direct to head throttle bodies and a programmeable ECU.

Can anyone recommend a company to carry out tuning work, either just head work or full engine rebuild.

Any suggestion on the actual work I should have done would be appreciated, I was thinking gas flowing and high lift cams as a starter, but have also considered a full rebuild with raised compression.

I emailed QED Motorsportlast week but have not had a reply, maybe they are on holiday !

The car will be used primarily for sprints and hillclimbs.

Cheers

Doesn't help too much that you're in bonny Scotland but he's very helpful anyway and will be able to give you the best advice for you needs.

Cheers,
Rob

I have considered that, I have spoken to Raw Engineering regarding a Toyota 4Age conversion as I am quite keen to retain the 1600 capacity.

What engine would you recommend ?

I presume going upto a 1.8 K series is out because you want to stay "in class" and hence the 1600 comment?

Yes, going to 1.8 would put me in a bigger capacity class, I prefer to stay in 1400-1700, but I will obviously consider moving up, the advantage of tuning what I have is exactly that, I already have the engine, bellhousing, throttle bodies, so it is probably cheaper to stick with it.

The 4age, while heavier (few kg) is generally considered a much better engine and the tuning options are much more widely available and more than likely cheaper £/hp than the k-series.

One possiblity is the honda B16, but it turns in the other direction so you will need to change the box and possibly the diff (assuming you're on about a 7-esque kit).
