You can file away the earth electrode to expose more of the centre electrode - this is often done on turbo engines running high boost to get the spark into the mixture quicker. It won't have much effect but if you're looking for 10 things that can each give you (possibly) 0.2 bhp, this is one of them. 2 bhp extra could put you a bumper ahead of the car next to you down a straight, ready for the next corner.

I have tried loads of different type, they make no difference at all, An electrical spark will take the route of least resistance to ground, having 2,3 or 4 electrodes is of no use at all, it will only ever take the one.
It will help if your plugs have seen better days, but as long as they are set corectly don't fall for the sales packaging, Also make sure your leads are in good nick!
I'd normally agree with this but recently I was having difficulty starting and running my car ( pinto engined kit) which had NGKs in, then tried BOSCH with no change then CHAMPIONs which have performed superb, couldn't believe it.
though I dont know if they would make any difference to power output

What about long reach plugs?
According to the marketing stuff they are supposed to give an increase in power by placing the spark further down the cylinder. Any truth in this?
Yes, if it's more central within the chamber/fuel. Downside is the pistons coming to hit the plugs.
Boosted.
Indexed plugs - yes ggod idea.
Used to inex plugs on our 2.1 pinto, 10.5:1 compression; if you didn't the pisotn used to close the earth electrode against the centre electrode at TDC. Do not try recurtting the thread, you will find that the earth electrode is welded on at a different point on each plug. Mark the weld on point on the ceramic and wind them in - make sure that the weld on point is between 10 and 2 o'clock wehn plug tight. JD
Champion plugs in Pintos?-
Don't make me laugh. Used Champion once, melted it all down, detonated - goodnight piston. Since then only used NGK (in a really highly modded engine) AP8FS - std is AP6FS never had any problem, worked really well. JD

As for filing electrodes. Must admit, Ive never heard of such a thing, and to be honest it sounds crazy.
The Earth is round ? Madness, complete maddness, any fool can see the earth is flat
It is round indeed, and I'll continue leaving my plugs as is. If I didnt want an electrode in the way, I'd use a surface discharge plug.

Although all the findings that I have come across from people using this engine and the larger 1.6 variant (myself included) show that standard leads and plugs are best.
Yeah, but leads can be prone to wear through vibration or contamination, If your having problems it's always a good thing to check, especially if you plugs require you to be double jointed to get at them!

I did say 'I didn't believe it ' myself and i was also told they were rubbish but they worked for me.
