First post, need some help if you'd all be so kind

I regularly clean the 17" M-Sport rims on my 3 series but they're quite deep dish and I appear to have some welded on brake dust...

The lighter stuff comes off with a suitable wheel cleaner but around the spokes and in the 'dish' part I have what look like pock-marks of black dust that feel like sandpaper.

I've tried polishing, Wonder Wheels, Mer, Autoglym, everything!

Muzzer,

Have you tried Claying the wheels. Most brands now sell Clay for cleaning paintwork and it can also be used on wheels. It should easily remove the brake dust that has baked on. Make sure you keep the surface well lubricated whilst rubbing the clay over the wheel. Once clean, then I would apply the same wax on the wheels that you put on your paintwork. This will add shine plus also a layer of protection. You will also find the wheels will be easier to clean next time. Keep adding wax to build up protective layers just like your paintwork.
BEWARE though...once you have finished your wheels throw the clay away. If you use it on your paintwork it will scratch badly. Most clay bars can be broken into around three pieces. One for paint, one for windows and one for wheels.

Hope this helps.

Muzzer,

How did you get on with the wheels. Did the brake dust come off?
